160,000 and counting

^^^^^^ you ask why??

People in power wanting to execute more control over the populace in the purported exchange that “safety” is being increased.

The question is at which point should the populace not surrender freedoms in the exchange for implied safety

Additional info

Death rate after contracting Covid for age 1-40 is 1 out of 500

Death rate after contracting Covid for age 41-50 is 1 out of 250

Death rate after contracting Covid for age 51-60 is 1 out of 80

We need to focus safety on the elderly; the rest need to develop herd immunity IMO

It was more rhetorical. And I'm sick of this Covid scare. Yesterday we went into Natural Grocers and holy cow, as soon as you enter it's like everyone looks at you making sure you have a mask on. Then they posted these signs at checkout stating to stand back and don't put anything on the conveyor until the person in front of you has checked out and they can clean the conveyor belt. While you're at it, how about wiping off the credit card machine where EVERYONE is punching in their CC numbers? I felt really pissed off but held my emotions in check. It's getting so unreal out there.

Hey, how do you suppose these numbers would compare if you replaced "contracting Covid" with "diagnosed with cancer"? Isn't this all so crazy stupid? I cannot wait until stupid surrenders to common sense. I hope it actually does.

I wear a mask ...LOL guess most know. I have been trying to not worry and get back to some normalcy.

As I say stats are fine unless you are one of them.

Last week I was in Gatlinburg (part business and part vacation)and social distancing was near impossible is some areas. I would say mask compliance was in the 95% range.

Yesterday I was at a waterpark in Nashville. My son is poor swimmer and I met with the assistant scoutmaster to work on his stamina and mechanics. He has to pass a swim test to advance to First Class. Besides that I want him to be a safe and decent swimmer at camp (if they have it next year.) The time to get any meaningful work in is going out with the season. MAYBE we can get to an indoor pool between now and camp and get him up to speed. He will be 14 next month. He has had 3 different swim classes. I was an excellent swimmer by 6. :(

Once you are in the park a mask is impractical. I did my best to stay 6 feet away from people and sanitized a few times. I hope the chlorine was strong enough. :)

Nashville is the states hotspot with 22K cases.

Life! It is what it is.

Understand, and I’m not advocating anyone to not take reasonable precautions for health. What I’m worried about is what the new normal might become.... because these sort of situations have taken place every 4-8 years now, but this response is new. Granted this virus is a little more deadly than the 2009 pandemic..... and China doesn’t seem to care what sort of diseases it generates occasionally either

Yeah if the world is going to lock down anything then lock down China from Oct thru May and don't let them travel. The latest greatest flu starts there almost every year.!!!

You are beyond FOS. I'm sorry, but you just aren't rational enough to argue with. I accept that you "believe" what you believe.
Classic trumpette. Confronted with facts--> can't dispute them--> runs away. You actually have a lot in common with trump in that sense!

I accept your capitulation.

Yeah, I was about to reply to his points, but phuck him - he’s irrational. If Trump had declared emergency powers and done more, he’d be called a dictator. His responses were measured and appropriate, and yet “he hasn’t done enough”.

I think that in 1967 the US lost about 0.05% of the population to flu. Our current Covid deaths are about 0.0485%.... and some people are willing to destroy our economy over it - insane
I also accept your capitulation. Warm regards.

This dude reads Vogue magazine too, so you're not alone.

You seem really uptight. Was that really such a big inconvenience for you?

"Any society that would give up liberty to gain security, deserves neither and will shortly lose both."

"Nobody get's out of this world alive."

"The coward dies a thousand deaths, but the valiant tastes death but once.

"I'd rather die on my feet, than live on my knees." o_O

Four of my favorite...quotes to live by.

Serious health crisis or, as Donald says, “It is what it is?”

Do you think we have one of the lowest death rates in the world, as Donald claims? Or one of the highest?
Do u seriously believe that’s a correct number with all the false reports from hospitals and motorcycle deaths listed as covid deaths? Lol granted I don’t like seeing any deaths but to apply this to trump is just stupid.

I’ve already deducted the motorcycle death guy from the total.

But no, I don’t put the deaths on Trump. Just his lack of leadership and his lying to the public and attempts to deflect the seriousness just because he felt it made him look bad.

I only liked your first sentence.

Lol. I’m sure u have. Now do all the other bs deaths applied to Covid along with all the cases. Lack of leadership ? Please explained where he hasn’t done something that was needed. He never deflected but he did keep things positive unlike the democrats. Cases don’t equal deaths like the democrats n left wing media do. He allowed the doctors to do what they recommended. He didn’t hinder anyone. Please tell me when he lied.
