Football More crazy stuff.

You are going to see some of the upper end power 5 schools affiliate with non-power five schools for purposes of basically establishing a grapefruit league. Given the scholarship limits, a high end power 5 school will ask a non-power 5 school to sign a player that cannot make the power 5 school’s roster currently but has potential for the future. The power 5 school will help “contribute” towards an NIL program for that player while he’s at the non-power 5 school.

Then, depending on performance, the power 5 program will bring the player up via the transport portal.

Don’t be surprised if you see a couple of these power 5 schools affiliate with three or four lesser schools consistently. Like a grapefruit league.

The lesser schools love it because they’re going to get talent that they normally would not get - even if just for a brief period of time. Also, these non-power five coaches will then have an avenue where they can “enhance” their careers by moving quickly up the coaching ladder.

It’s just nuts.

Football We’re a dynamic OC away from the playoffs IMO

I firmly believe that. I think our D can be very good no doubt, but IMO our O can be at an elite level with DJ, the weapons returning/incoming and a dynamic OC who can put it all together.

DJ is a truly elite of elite QB talent (they don’t come around that much and IMO he’s the only 1 in CFB currently). Cam Ward might be the closest this season and we see what he did uplifting an otherwise mediocre Miami team.

One thing that’s become clear is that even good to very good college QB are only as good as their weapons and scheme. No surprise then that both Ewers and Beck took big steps back this year (and both are good QB) after losing major weapons to the NFL.

DJ, talent wise, is levels above those guys, but needs improvement in his QB coaching and the scheme.

This is why if Napier can swallow his pride/ego and put the program 1st and hire a dynamic OC to pull it all together we can make the playoffs next year.

We are loaded at RB and WR, good enough at TE, and return a good and most importantly veteran OL.

This hire (or lack therof) will tell us all we need to know IMO

Hoping we get it done

Football CB Quinyon Mitchell - Philly Eagles

Was just watching the playoff game between the Rams and the Eagles, and saw during the player introductions Quinyon Mitchell said Williston, Florida,, which we all know is 20 miles from UF.

He is now regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the league after a strong rookie season. He played his college ball at University of Toledo for 4 years after being a three star recruit.

Did we recruit him at all or was he just not on the radar or did we just have bigger fish to fry? I know you can't get everyone, but it seems a shame to not land a guy or go after a guy who lives so close. Anyone know the story here?

Any info or insight would be appreciated ...
