Football More crazy stuff.

You are going to see some of the upper end power 5 schools affiliate with non-power five schools for purposes of basically establishing a grapefruit league. Given the scholarship limits, a high end power 5 school will ask a non-power 5 school to sign a player that cannot make the power 5 school’s roster currently but has potential for the future. The power 5 school will help “contribute” towards an NIL program for that player while he’s at the non-power 5 school.

Then, depending on performance, the power 5 program will bring the player up via the transport portal.

Don’t be surprised if you see a couple of these power 5 schools affiliate with three or four lesser schools consistently. Like a grapefruit league.

The lesser schools love it because they’re going to get talent that they normally would not get - even if just for a brief period of time. Also, these non-power five coaches will then have an avenue where they can “enhance” their careers by moving quickly up the coaching ladder.

It’s just nuts.

Is it just me? I am so sick and tired of hearing how great Arch Manning is!

You'd swear this guy has won 5 National Championships, 15 Heismans and in his spare time has led 3 different NFL teams to Super Bowl titles. I mean wtf? Doesn't Sark know who the better QB is? He sees them in practice every day right? Given his knowledge of offense and QB play, if Manning was better than Ewers wouldn't he be the starting QB? Ok folks, seriously what am I missing?

Mens Basketball defense exposed!

This may be a blessing in disguise, if Golden can adjust on his team defensive lapses. Watched many of the Florida players go behind the screens uncharacteristically, maybe it was nerves today. That today alone allowed Kentucky to get off most of their three's. We are a great offensive team Clayton said it best" to score 100, and give up 106 that's an issue " No time to cry with Tennessee coming to town Todd emphasize the issues on defense, and we are headed to the final four.

Football Great News

I am beyond excited to finally join the club of Gator Football Season Ticket Holders!!! As a frequent game attendee, especially Growl, with my boys when they were pre school (many moons ago), family, work, time, & coaching became priorities subjecting me to the Boob Tube for my "fix". With the Boss's  approval, I pulled the trigger on 4 tix. Overwhelmed at the ability to make this purchase and join my Gator Brothers & Sisters in God's Country more often in the Fall.

Go Gators!!!

Gator's 2024-25 Recruiting / Portal

Seems like the time to open a new page with the regular season over, early signing day approaching, with the portal opening shortly after that.
Here's a pretty good start for this thread imo....

Florida Flips Five-Star Safety from Miami

Jacksonville's Hylton Stubbs 6-2 195 joins the Gators' high-rising 2025 recruiting class in a sudden move. As for the on-field production for Stubbs, he looks to be someone who can defend the pass and stop the run, according to 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins.

With Mandarin this season, Stubbs has recorded 54 total tackles (39 solo), eight tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, four pass deflections and three forced fumbles. Stubbs' high school highlights can be viewed here.

The Florida Gators baseball program is one month from Opening Day versus the Air Force Academy. The Gators are coming off a rollercoaster 2024 season in which they were almost left out of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. However, Florida played their best baseball towards the end and made it all the way to the semifinals of the College World Series.

Heading into the 2025 season, the Florida Gators are expected to be very competitive and could even make another trip to Omaha for the College World Series. D1 Baseball released their Preseason Top 25 rankings and Florida was ranked tenth in the country.

While the Gators were ranked tenth in the preseason rankings, five other SEC programs were ahead of them. Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Georgia were the other five SEC in the Top 25. Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Texas are the three other SEC teams ranked in the preseason rankings.

The Gators will play seven Preseason Top 25 teams, with six of them being SEC teams. The only non-conference Top 25 opponent Florida plays against this season will be the ninth-ranked Florida State Seminoles in a three-game midweek series spread throughout the season.

The only other media outlet to release their Preseason Top 25 rankings was Perfect Game. The Gators were ranked 11th in the country in their Preseason Top 25. Perfect Game had five SEC teams ahead of the Gators, with the Texas Longhorns ranked #7. The Florida Gators will begin their 2025 season at home versus Air Force on February 14th.
