Basketball Sunday's Triple Double Earns McGill SEC Freshman of the Week

Florida's Liv McGill earns SEC Freshman of the Week after posting a triple double at Missouri and leading Florida from the three versus Kentucky.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-The Southeastern Conference unveils its weekly honors, featuring Liv McGill as SEC Freshman of the Week. The recognition comes after McGill tallied Florida's first triple-double since 2017 and posted back-to-back outings in double figures for scoring.

McGill's triple double at Missouri was the highlight of her week, recording 21-points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. In Columbia, McGill led UF in assists (10), rebounds (11), and steals (2), greatly contributing to Florida's 26-point victory over Mizzou.

In UF's first matchup of the week, McGill hit double figures in scoring with 10 points against No. 12 Kentucky (1/9/25). McGill also shot an impressive 67 percent from the three-point line to lead the Gators from behind the arc.

Overall, McGill spent the week dominating on both ends of the hardwood with a combined 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists.

The Gators will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 16 when they travel to Oxford, Miss., for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off against Ole Miss.

Since fall practice is underway and the Gators are playing exhibition games, I thought it would be good to get the discussion going about the upcoming season. #1 signing class in the nation, an upgrade at pitching coach, 2 quality portal transfers and a great returning corp of players has many people thinking this team has a decent shot at not only the SEC title, but the National Championship. FSU Amends ACC Lawsuit…

(AP News)
TALLAHASSEE, FL-

In a shocking legal maneuver, attorneys representing Florida State University have added a count to their lawsuit against the ACC requesting the court to declare the school the official conference football champions without having to win a game in the 2024 season.

“It’s clear that FSU is so much better than the other ACC athletic members that we really shouldn’t have to actually go through the motions of proving it on the field,” said FSU Athletic Department Information Spokesperson, Red Bozonovich. “We’d prefer spending our time seeking a league that actually fits our stature rather than having to compete against lesser competition.”

The ACC declined to provide its initial response comment on the newly filed pleading. “We’re not going to comment on active litigation,” said ACC Member Competition Director, Giddy Laughowicz “All I can say at this time is that the other ACC football members are VERY glad they have the opportunity to play FSU in 2024, [Ha ha ha].”

The court has provided no indication whether the new filing would be accepted.
