GATOR BITES:
UF coach Kelly Rae Finley on Florida's win over Georgia:
"I was really pleased with our effort, start to finish, in terms of everybody that came into the game off the bench-our people were extremely, extremely reliable and overall, I thought we did a great job... We're not trying to be perfect, but we're trying to be more perfect than we are not. We don't need to sit around and let other teams lead us, we can initiate. I was pleased with our start, and then I was pleased with how we were able to carry that into the second half as well."

Senior Ra Shaya Kyle and her message from the game:
"I'm just really excited. This is something we've been working on. This is what we've been waiting for and what we have prepared for. We know what we're doing out there, so coming out I was just being the leader I knew I could be. I trust my teammates and giving them that confidence is something that will continue to be done."

New Story Tight End Making UF Official (12/20/24)

Tight End Making UF Official (12/20/24)

The recruiting process is a lot like dating to me; you need to find the perfect fit for yourself.

As the season winds down, I don’t know if I’ll be making any more game-day visits
.

The Gators are an amazing option for me because, as Coach Callaway puts it, they have it all. I have the opportunity to play SEC ball for an amazing coaching staff, leave with a great degree, and be in Florida. It’s a great combination that’s hard to beat.

My relationship with Coach Callaway is great. He is an amazing down to earth dude, and I look forward to meeting him in person this weekend. Coach Napier and Coach Bares are also great guys that I can’t wait to meet.

I’m taking my OV this weekend from today (Friday) to Sunday. I look forward to hearing about my opportunities to get on the field and how they plan to develop me.

Overall, I am extremely blessed. Not many kids get this opportunity. All glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Our 5 losses may ALL make the Playoffs

DJ Lagway is 4-0 in games where he has taken 100% of the QB snaps. Anyone can see that he's special... and only God knows what our record would be if DJ had been our starter from Day One. But we can't second guess or cry over spilt milk... we can only get excited about finishing the season 8-5 with a big 4 game winning steak!

And if you want to see how GOOD this team is overall... just look at the teams who beat us. They're ALL in the Top 14 right now, and if Alabama loses a game and Texas A&M beats Texas and Miami beats SMU... they will all be in the Playoffs.

Mertz was an admirable, likeable kid... but clearly this team is light years better with DJ. WHO KNOWS how many of those 5 losses would've been wins if DJ plays the whole game?

Let's say Tennessee and Georgia.

That would make us 8-3... and in Playoff contention ourselves!

We're THAT close.

Do I think we could be EVEN BETTER in 2025 if Napier hires a new OC who can add some dynamic passing plays? Hell yes. Let's hope!

Mike Norvell restructures contract, gives $4.5 mill back to FSU

Norvell is contributing $4.5 million of his salary this year to the university in a one-year restructured contract, sources tell Yahoo Sports — the third such public move from a college football coach in the last two weeks.

The contribution is part of the school’s new Vision of Excellence campaign intended to raise money as schools gear up to share revenue directly with athletes under the new House settlement agreement. The settlement permits each school in Division I to share at least $20.5 million with their athletes starting on July 1.

As a response to the settlement, coaches are forking over portions of their multi-million dollar salaries. Norvell, who drew interest during Alabama’s head coaching search, received a new contract in the spring that nearly doubled his salary to $9.9 million. By the end of the contract in 2031, the coach will make nearly $11 million annually.
