Pump the brakes

If you watched the press conference like I did, first Billy is extremely well spoken and it is clear he has a plan on how to run an organization. Second, he told us all to be patient. In my free time I’ve read plenty or articles on Billy and listen to him talk on his radio show in Louisiana. He always has a very consistent message and that is this is all about people and the relationships you have with those people. I’m a recruiting junkie just like the rest of y’all, but Billy isn’t going to just take a kid without getting to know them. I say this because plenty of people are throwing their hands up in the air about Az. Thomas. I’m sure Billy wants to recruit the kid but have you stopped to think about how little time Billy has before the ESD? And with such little time Billy is also forced to prioritize certain prospects dependent on how are roster is currently put together. We have plenty of DBs on roster. We don’t have depth at the RB position and this is a line of scrimmage league. Not surprised Billy’s first visits are going to be to two stud RB (who Juluke has relationships with), our best commit who is a DT (have to keep Venebles from him) and Quency Wiggins who seems to be looking for a place because he prolly has no relationship with Brian Kelly & Bama seems to have other guys in front of him. Miami HC drama is a shit show and FSU is terrible, so Nyjalik Kelly is another elite DL just trying to figure out home. We may have little to no news about commits this week but I feel the weeks leading up to February might be some of the best recruiting weeks we have seen at Florida in a long time. So as CBN said, let’s be patient.

College football head coaches

Nick Saban
Brian Kelly
Mark Stoops
Sam Pittman
Dabo *
Kirby*
Can you name any other HFC's at Power 5 schools that are likely to retire at their present schools (not be fired or leave for greener pastures)?
As in the NFL, college coaches are now "hired to be fired". Another poster earlier suggested colleges need a CEO for football. I think the AD needs to hire a HFC for ability with X's and O's as well as the ability to identify talented recruits and develop them. I think the AD should hire the assistant coaches with the consent of the HFC. But the AD can fire them. The AD should also hire a Football Logistics Coordinator. Someone who organizes and runs the recruiting process going after the players the coaches want, babysits and monitors the players academics and behavior, etc., basically a Master Sargent...aren't they the ones that keep "the grunts in line" and really run the army? (Just ask one.)They would handle the mundane crap most HFC's aren't good at and really don't want to do.
* If Kirby doesn't win a National Championship within 3-4 years will the fanbase turn on him? And for those of you that follow SOS about the "direction of a program", this is Dabo the past few years. 15-0; 14-1; 10-2; 8-3. Definitely a downward projection.

Wait a minute… didn’t this forum fire Mike White last year?

Imagine my shock when the guy who was “fired” by this forum last year… did a double digit beat down on Leonard Hamilton’s noles. FSU is actually one of the deepest teams in the country talent wise. And how did White do it? After not being able to get a bunch of four and five star players to produce and play defense, this team beat a more talented FSU team with… hold your ears recruitniks… NOT ONE SINGLE ONE OF THE TOP SEVEN UF PLAYERS IN MINUTES PLAYED WAS A RECRUIT OUT OF HS — all are transfers. And what did they do… played relentless defense and team basketball against a more talented team. It is a long season, but any team that plays relentless defense like this is going to be a tough out. Cast offs from nowhere just ballin’… good thing we fired Mike White last year.

Fueling the Jet: Monday, December 6th

Coach Napier is still finishing up meetings this morning in the football offices. He should be starting his last or one of his last meetings at 8:15AM and then heading out on the trail.....

Championship games and the playoff team decisions...

Well you can ignore that joke ESPN playoff predictor for some of these scenarios as it has Notre Dame with a higher % chance to make it than an Oklahoma State team that is in front of them and that also wins the BIG 12 championship game.

SEC: Bama - Georgia
Big 12: OK State - Baylor
Big 10: Michigan-Iowa
PAC12: Oregon-Utah - should have no bearing on playoff
ACC: Pitt-Wake Forest - should have no bearing on playoff
AAC: Cincy - Houston

I think Bama will be left out in that scenario above and Oklahoma State gets in the top 4.

I think Cincy gets left out in that scenario above despite the Notre dame win.

I think Notre Dame probably gets in over Bama in that scenario.

Baylor would actually have a good argument to get in over Bama in this scenario with their 2 top wins and a conference championship.
