Darkest day in Gator football history.

Some may not agree but after the facts played out it's not hard to see.
1: everyone except a few of us , was play Emory he gives us the best chance to win.
What he really did by playing is show that we play non committed players at Florida and have absolutely no standards as a program. ( Goes for Copeland and any other transferring out players).
2: It showed what we have saw all year and in the previous bowl game.
Having Emory (all transferring out players)on the field ( because he gives us the best chance to win ) is a slap in the face to all the former and current players that put in the work and actually are true Gators.
3: Continuing the insanity
Continuing to undervalue other players who will play with heart is ridiculous. The old adage next man up does not apply at the University of Florida.
4: Emory Jones (great young man ) unfortunately great young men that can't play a position put others at risk continuously. We saw several big hits taking place on Florida wide receivers because he locks in on receivers and leads them into double coverage. We saw student athletes get injured because he can't play the position and hasn't been able to. (Best chance to win). Sad a prayer for Shorter his heart for Florida is a true love !
5 : Remaining Coaches :
Showed lack of passion or concern for the School (program) that facilitated their living the last several years. They did not represent the University well whatsoever.

What transpired was one of the darkest days in UF history, the UAA used these words when they found out about Mullen and his recruiting violation. Thank the good Lord change is here! I also hope this opens eyes to what potentially can happen when you have non invested , non passionate players and coaches representing the program. I also hope it brings to light that the (best chance to win players) sometimes their limitations create danger for other just as deserving student athletes.
End all be all the (best chance to win ) did exactly what they have been doing. That's get embarrassed by a lesser program, and look just as terrible doing it while once again losing.

My 2 cents

(Not that it means anything) but I was a huge Mullen fan. Loved the hire. After this I’m done with the past tho. Mullen screwed up choosing EJ over Corrall. (Obviously) He screwed up with the hires. (Obviously) He screwed up in many different ways but after tonight (as bad as it was) I can finally move on. I believe we will be back but CBN has a lot of work to do and I’m excited to watch it unfold. Cheers to this being the last time we see a Gator team this bad for a long, long time. Go Gators

Rock bottom

Is this what it feels like to hit rock bottom? Kids look like they are playing hard but we are so bad we can’t even beat UCF. Penalties, poor d-line play, poor o-line play, terrible qb play. I am so glad this season is over. I hope Billy keeps giving us good news on hires and recruits. Man I need it. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Progress in the month Mullen has been gone

Mullen was fired on November 21st, so he's been gone 31 days now. I'm pleased with Napier's initiative and progress in the 28 days he's been on the job, albeit with the first 7 splitting time with ULL.

How long did it take Mullen to hire as many staffers as Napier did? His work done so far stacks up nicely against the other big hires this offseason (Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley)

Why I’m worried about our basketball team in SEC play

People know how I feel about MW but I don’t want this thread to be about him. I want it about the numbers and x and o’s. I want @Tarjf to chime in since he is an x and o guy. As a numbers guy I look at the numbers and they scare me.

I’m also not going to go full nerd with an advanced stats discussion to start but I’m not against this discussion going there. I just want to talk about shooting.

On the year we are 260th in the country at 31.2% from 3. That is brutal. We are 114th from 2 at 51.4%. Not great but above average.

Not accounting for free throws we average .936 points per 3 point attempt and 1.028 points per 2 point attempt. So you’d think we would want to attempt 3s at a below average rate. However, we don’t. We are 105th in the country with 41.6% of our attempts being from 3. I don’t understand why we continue to do what we do poorly with so much frequency.

Look at the Stony Brook game, one where @Franz Beard said we shot well. He’s right. We were above our season averages. 34.8% from 3 and 64.9% from 2. That’s 1.04 points per 3 and 1.30 from 2. However, despite such a large differential we still shot 3s at a high rate of 38.33%. Yes, below our season average but still too high.

Think of it this way. We had a big size advantage yesterday. We were scoring 25% more per attempt from 2 than 3. Our season average is 10% more. Yet, we didn’t see a significant increase in 2% rate commensurate with the significant increase in output.

So this is where I want the x and o guys to educate me. I get it that in general terms we run a lot of 5 out offense and we are spotting up shooters. But why? Why would you run a system that emphasizes what you don’t do well?

I was worried about how this team was put together. Yes, if you look at individuals we did VERY well in the portal. But if you look at the sum of the parts we were putting together a team that was going to be an incredibly inefficient 3 point shooting team and the numbers bear that out so far.

And yes, I know we are 43 offensively in KenPom but I also know our opponents’ average NET is 187 and we’ve only played 2 games that weren’t quad 3 or 4. Can we really continue what we are doing and win more than 10 SEC games? With a current NET of 60 we probably need at least 10. Perhaps 9 if we beat Oke State later in the year.

So again, what am I missing? What is the on court advantage of emphasizing what you don’t do well? Can’t you run sets and actions to get high percentage 2s instead of low percentage 3s?
