55th Anniversary of Gator’s First Major Bowl Victory

January 2, 1967 27-12 win over Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. It was my 3rd ever Gator game. My Dad and I sat in the lower part of the west end zone and when Larry Smith broke through the line for his 94 yard td it looked like he was running right to me. As a young kid it was at that time the most exciting football thing I ever saw.

Do any of the unsigned Recruits we are now pursuing have "Shaky Academics" ?

We have been done that road before; few of the ones with shaky academics Mullen signed ended up like Diwun Black.

Hope Napier doesn't go that route !

Recruiting 3* players for depth hits a nerve to start with; ones with shaky academics a total waste.

Better off to resign some of the ones like Lloyd Summerall who have entered the portal; at least we know they are academically qualified.

EDIT
Dante Zanders / Lang - 6'5" 291 lbs has also reportedly pulled out of the portal.

Getting Mohamoud Diabate to return would be extremely helpful as well.

Napier Welcomes Bird Sherrill as Director of College Personnel

From Rivals Front Page

At least he didn't hijack one more from ULL ! LOL

Sherrill spent the last six seasons (2016-21) with the Detroit Lions.

As Florida's director of college personnel,

Sherrill will focus on the evaluation of transfer portal and JUCO players.

A 2016 graduate of the University of Alabama, started his career as a recruiting specialist with the Tide in 2013 as a student, and was part of Alabama's 2014 and 2015 SEC Championship squads, as well as the 2015 National Championship team.

Lane the Riverboat Gambler

If you’re watching Ole Miss v. Baylor in tonight’s Sugar Bowl you’re witnessing college ball’s most daring gambler. Lane Kiffin and his freshman QB Luke Altmeyer are orchestrating a memorable show. It recalls Spurrier getting all he could out of Noah Brindise, alternating quarterbacks. Kiffin goes for it on 4th down more often than anyone.

2022 schedule

Utah looked good the other night, Georgia is Georgia, U.T. is getting better as is Kentucky, LSU is always tough and now Jimbo has paid errr… recruited a class that is absolutely loaded even by Bama standards and not done yet so, it’s gonna be a tough 1st year for Coach Napier.

8-4 or 7-5?

Good thing FSU kept Norvell.

My opinions from Under Armour game live

Went to the game today as I try to every year with my dad and brother. Always fun to see these guys before they start their college careers on one field. Sat behind the Legends bench (Pinkish/Red team).

QBs - I hate to admit it but Duffy for sow at QB can be good. He can move and throws a nice ball. Has freakishly long arms but I was impressed unfortunately. Weigman QB for A&M was impressive too. Of course he was throwing to other A&M WRs a lot too. He already has shirts that say "Weig em!" Which I'm sure we will see in 2023 and 2024 at the games against us. The Utah commit has a shot put type throwing motion. I wasn't impressed. The Vandy Committ Samm has a good arm just is a bigger guy and kind of moves slow.

RBs - Pretty meh, none stood out to me like years past. They were OK nobody blew me away

WRs - A&M got a sick haul. But the Mizzou WR impressed me. He took the first pass to the house and looked like he could juke and has speed. Gibson looks very tall on the sidelines. He looks the part in uniform but I hope we won't regret that decision.

DTackles- Nolen (A&M DTackle) is large. If he turns the fat into muscle he will be a monster. Seemed to hurt his wrist in the first half but was playing again in the 2nd half. Georgia Dtackle Bear something is a grown man. He is a beast too.

LB- Perkins would've been a nice addition but we weren't even in the top 3 when they mentioned his school options today. I don't see anyone out bidding A&M for him.

DE- the uncommitted Shemar looked pretty good and was active all day. We need to get him

Safeties- Kamari got beat a few times today. They didn't always make the catch. He looked smaller frame wise in person than on film to me.

DBs - There was a lot of solid ones out there today. Travis Hunter played DB a lot today and he ran his mouth a lot. Seemed to get tired a few times after plays.

Kicker- how did we miss out on McPhersons brother? That's a travesty. The kid looks 12 and has skinny legs but absolutely drops bombs. At halftime he had the kickers tee on the 50yd line as was kicking 60 yards. I can't believe we missed on him especially after this year.

As I remember more I will post. If there's any specific questions I can try and answer. We Sat right behind the bench but the Icon team was on the opposite side of the field and they wouldn't allow fans on that side so it was harder to see them up close
