My perspective of UF vs UGA recruiting after Athens visit

My son had an unofficial visit today at UGA. He visited UF for the Tennessee game.

Here are my thoughts (as a Gator fan, shedding light on the differences)...stream of consciousness:
  • UGA has a designated parking spot for recruits and busses that shuttle the players and their families to the stadium. Some of the higher priority recruits had Escalade SUVs waiting for them with their names on them. We were on the bus. I don't recall if UF had a designated parking spot for recruits with a shuttle because we used my friend's parking spot in the O'Dome lot.
  • The pre-game visitor room is MASSIVE with tons of TVs, PlayStations, etc. At least 4x bigger than the room at UF (which was very crowded when we were there). The UGA room is very modern. At UF, they had some very old local DJ who I could have mistaken for Pat Dooley. The UF room has TVs too, but the space at UGA was way nicer. Also, no lame old white dude trying to raise the energy in the room by playing Earth Wind and Fire.
  • UGA had Chic-ail-A boxes for everyone as soon as you walked in with everything you could ever want for breakfast (minis, chicken biscuits, sausage egg and cheese, bacon egg and cheese, etc, etc). You could take whatever you wanted. The UF game had basic hamburgers, hotdogs, mac n cheese before the game (but it was a later game).
  • At UF, you sit wherever you want inside the room. At UGA, each recruiting coach has assigned tables. My son is being recruited by the RB coach, Coch McGee...so we sat at one of his tables.
  • At UF, some coaches come in and walk around and talk to certain players, but it's pretty random. At UGA, the coaches come to their tables to meet all of their kids.
  • Coach McGee met my son then called over Coach Hankton (WR coach) to meet with him. None of the coaches came up to my son at UF. Coach Hankton talked to my son for several minutes.
  • At UF, the recruits sit in the south end zone at ground level on a few sets of bleachers..no assigned seats. At UGA, there is a section of chairback seats in the end zone (there are red seats for unofficial and black for official visitors). So, at UF you can't see shit and you're sitting in old ass metal bleacher seats. At UGA you're up in the end zone just over their tunnel with chairback seats.
  • At half-time UGA had a local BBQ restaurant catering the meal...it was VERY good. Some incredible fried chicken. At UF, they had hot dogs and popcorn.
I think that about sums it up

Tough Deal for Gators Basketball & Briggs

UF WBK: Lavender Briggs to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Injury
The junior was Florida's leading scorer and rebounder through 14 games.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Junior standout guard Lavender Briggs will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign due to a stress reaction in her shin, head coach Kelly Rae Finley announced Friday afternoon.

Before the end of her season, Briggs was leading the Gators with 12.5 points per game, as well as 5.6 rebounds per outing. The junior also boasts 961 career points, just 39 away becoming the 27th member of the 1,000-point club at Florida.

"I am saddened for Lavender after seeing all the work she put in to come back this season," Finley said. "She is obviously a key component for our team, and we will miss what she brings to the court. We want her to do what's best in both the short and long term, not only for her basketball career, but for her quality of life."

For her career, the Provo, Utah native averages 15.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. During the 2020-21 season, Briggs averaged 19.4 points per game over the course of 18 games, marking one of the best seasons in program history, ending with the fourth-highest points per game average ever by a Gator.

The former five-star signee and All-SEC honoree has started in all 61 games that she's played for Gators.

The Gators will continue SEC play on Sunday when they travel to College Station, Texas, for a matchup with No. 25 Texas A&M.

"...but schools will have another, lesser school (or more than one) they use as a farm team."

An intriguing idea !

Use them instead of a JC; that way courses transfer easier. Also you could use them as warm up games in the early part of the season - clear the bench in the middle of the 3rd quarter; keep the score down & give them a decent payday.

199,000 jobs in December, lousy number, but unemployment rate down to 3.9

The unemployment rate should keep going down as people who are not employed and NOT SEEKING employment are not counted. Biden will have unemployment rate down to zero in his first term. Good job, Joe.

COVID Denier and Anti-Vaxxer Dies of COVID

An Italian anti-vaxxer and COVID-denier who sparked outrage after declaring himself a “plague spreader” and boasting about how he walked around sick and maskless in a supermarket is now dead of COVID-19, according to local media reports.

Maurizio Buratti, also known as Mauro from Mantua, died in a Verona hospital Monday, just a few weeks after he was hospitalized. He was 61.

Buratti’s condition took a turn for the worse, perhaps unsurprisingly, after he called in to the Zanzara radio program on Radio 24, where he was a frequent and well-known commenter, and openly told listeners he was seriously ill, with a high fever, but had made a point to stroll through a crowded grocery store maskless.

Chicago prosecutors refusing to charge gang members for homicides saying its mutual combat

Illinois prosecutors rejected charging five suspects in a deadly gang-related shootout that unfolded in Chicago, despite police reportedly seeking to charge all five suspects with murder and aggravated battery.

The shootout took place in the Austin community of Chicago Friday morning, and was reportedly sparked by an internal dispute between two factions of the Four Corner Hustlers gang, the Chicago Sun Times reported, citing an internal police report and a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation.

"Mutual combatants was cited as the reason for the rejection," a police report reviewed by the Chicago Sun Times said of the state attorney’s office’s decision. The report also noted that the suspects weren’t cooperating with investigators.

Wow! 800,000 jobs added

The Biden 💥 continues despite being in the middle of a pandemic. All Trump did was make excuses while losing 22 million jobs.

Stock market up 28%, jobs being added at record levels, wages rising. Why are Trumpers so angry all the time?

Oh well, I guess sore losers just can’t stand prosperity.
