Football Win - Win Situation For Us This Week

To lighten things up, we should all take a breath today and think about this glorious situation that we’re able to enjoy this weekend:

The FSU/Miami game.

Either 1-6 FSU beats an undefeated Miami team and knocks them off their high horse, or Miami beats up in FSU and the Noles go on to 1-7

For the first time this year, no matter what happens, we win

K. Harris Interview on Fox with Baier: Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Personally, I thought it was disastrous for her. She refuses to answer direct questions because the answers will hurt her. The first time somebody asked her real questions and follow-up questions and she had no answers.

Mainstream media will spin this as an ambush interview, but the questions were fair I thought.

She refused to answer any real questions. And she had nothing for the follow-up questions when she tried to do talking points. And that’s what she needed to do. I think she’s gonna keep falling in the polls after this.

News I like is real.
Also, remember a lot of these poles have a clear blue bias so for it to look like this right now, I’m starting to like our chances of not having to live through a Harris presidency

New Story Baugh Named Shaun Alexander Award Freshman of the Week

Those that have followed UF for a while now will cringe at the sound of Shaun Alexander and the game he had vs UF in The Swamp.

The weekly honor highlights the top performance by a freshman in FBS.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –
Florida Gators running back Jadan Baugh has been named the Shaun Alexander Award Freshman of the week, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday. The honor follows his historic performance against Kentucky, in which he scored five rushing touchdowns, tying a program record set by Tim Tebow (2007, vs. South Carolina) and Trey Burton (2010, vs. Kentucky).

Baugh, making his first career start, ran for 106 yards on 22 carries. He became the first true-freshman running back for the Gators with multiple rushing TDs in a game since Malik Davis on Sept. 30, 2017 vs. Vanderbilt (two).

Baugh is the first running back to claim the Shaun Alexander Award Freshman of the Week title this season, and just the third player from the SEC to be selected.

UF Release

Simply ...I don't even have a word

Call myself the Old Coach and haven't posted in a long time but live in Tallahassee and had a Seminole fan tell me, no matter how bad the Noles are currently, they are better than the Gators.

The have played one ranked team, Clemson, while our three losses come from teams with a combined 2 losses. Then we move on to the next four, they have a combined five.

No sure any coach could survive such a gauntlet. But I sure hope he holds them together until late November.

The case for Brian Kelly *if* we move on

Yeah, I know he doesn't give the warm and fuzzy feels. But his buyout is only $2 million. He has been tested at the highest levels-ND, and now SEC tested at LSU and has produced two 10 win seasons. He coached a Heisman winner already in his first couple years at LSU.

Why would he leave you ask? I don't think he's a "fit" for LSU. He checks many of their boxes, but ultimately there is something out of sorts imo. Rumor was he was interested in the job when we hired Billy. I would not be surprised if he is still interested and now that we have seen him in the SEC, rebuild LSU, we might be more confident giving him the nod. Just food for thought.

And yes, hes 62.

Football An Attempt To Be Rational

This isn't a keep Napier thread. At all. But given the situation we are getting the best possible outcome right now. Our coach is on a "put up or shut up" week to week audition, our team is playing hard and improving, our young talent is getting a ton of playing time, and we keep the program together while every other coach is auditioning for us. Not only will UF be a highly sought after job because it's UF and a top 10 job, But because we have a potential heisman winner and 1st round pick in place for at least the next two years. Make no mistake, every coach in America wants to coach DJ Lagaway.

Finally - not only a win, but a fun win. It was really great to see some smiles on our sideline last night. Coaches and players and staff. Good for them. Regardless on what happens down the road. I believe we have people in place who love the university, love the team, and are working their butts off. They deserve to have a little sunshine on their asses too. So I'm going to give them credit. You get the blame when we play poorly and you get the credit when we show improvement and play well.

After what can only be considered a disastrous start to the season the team appears to be finding itself a bit. Yes the past three wins have come against MSU, UCF and UK but we kicked the crap out of UT on the road. Something Bama was not able to do. Not even for small stretches. The team could have folded after A&M, they could have finger pointed, guys could have quit, guys could have decided to sit out or even announce their intentions to transfer, but that hasn't really happened. Give Billy A TON of credit for this and the leaders on the team too.

Our offensive capabilities are clearly different with DJ under center. He's incredibly accurate on deep throws. You can't teach it, he just has it. And that changes how defenses have to play us and creates opportunities in the run game. The threat of the QB run, and zone read also forces teams to account of for the QB and that's meaningful as well. I'm giving Billy a ton of credit for the way he's handles the QB situation and brought DJ along. I would expect UGA to be super aggressive and dare us to beat them over the top. We'll have to hit on those early in the game in two weeks again, but if we can, watch out.

The defensive progrèss has been pretty remarkable as well. We'll know a lot more after UGA but we are playing the run a lot better from all three levels, and our tackling is much improved. Playing aggressive is a much better style for us. Let's hope Marshall isn't out for UGA, and maybe it's just a minor shoulder separation. If he's out, we need to get the rest of the secondary healthy in a hurry.

Portal guys - BCD, Badger, Dike, Pup, Bridges, C Jackson, Gumbs, J Jackson, all playing extremely well right now. Great additions. The catches Badger made yesterday were not easy - great balls but also great catches. BCD continues to be solid and seems to have gotten his feet under now in the SEC. Dike does everything. Bridges has changed our secondary play. A lot of good pickups.

My opinion on Napier staying hasn't changed. But I like the way the team is playing right now. I'm excited to see DJ. I'm excited to see if we can continue to play well.

Go Gators.

Anxious to see how his team finishes the season. So far really well prepared and a very hard nosed hard playing team of one. All playing for a common goal and a very exciting brand of ball. 🏈

Vote Early

Early voting started yesterday in VA and I banked my vote.

You should vote early in person as soon as the polls open in your state.

1) If you’re a person that campaigns market to (ie you get emails and texts), voting early saves your candidate money because they take you off the list. They can focus efforts on someone else.
2) Life happens. Voting early makes sure a car accident, illness, etc doesn’t get in the way.
3) Democrats think Republicans only vote on Election Day. If we’re gonna have printer issues, voting machine issues, etc, when do you think they’re gonna do it?
4) The counter argument is “they’ll know how many votes they’ll need to cheat”…what happened last time? They counted the votes on Election Day and shut down the counting to come up with enough votes. Point is, it doesn’t matter…if they’re gonna cheat they are gonna cheat.
5) If someone is going to use your name to steal your vote, it’s much harder if you’ve already voted.

Republicans need to change how they operate if we’re going win. Harvest where legal, vote early and by mail, and avoid Election Day shenanigans.
