I'm watching an episode of This Old House, and there's this house that they are installing solar panels on.

First, the roof is a gorgeous wood shingle roof, which of course is about to be covered by hideous solar panels. So the host explains that the panels can't attach directly to the wood, so they first have to cover the wooden roof with a huge asphalt tarp and THEN attach the panels to it.

Next is the backyard where the panels will go. The owner has a GORGEOUS *shaded* backyard. The host walks out "Wow I love this backyard! Look at all this shade! But all this shade isn't gonna help get sun to those panels on the roof, so what's the solution for this?"

The landscaper then explains "Well, we've got plenty of coverage on this property and some overhanging from the adjacent property. So yeah...all these trees on this property, we're gonna CUT THEM DOWN. That will give us SOME sun in the mid to late afternoon, then we'll go and CUT DOWN the branches coming onto this property from next door, and that will give us SOME sun in the morning."

Remember, the whole goal of this sustainability bullshit is PROTECTING the environment, instead you literally have to DESTROY IT to install HIGHLY INEFFECTIVE solar panels that will cost a fortune and take years to break even on.

But like @Sunburnt Indian says, for the warmists, this is their religion.

While traveling, I watched a solar farm built out in the desert near San Diego. The Warmists were happy. Oops! The solar farm owners couldn't get permits for power lines to get the electricity to San Diego. Too unsightly the Warmists argued.

Solar panels are a perfect example of a technology that isn't feasible for the consumer yet, that's being forced on the market by activists. Over time, panels will become smaller and more efficient, and less expensive. There will come a time when you can install a small panel on your house and get some help in offsetting your electric bill.

Instead, warmists and activists want to use the technology TODAY to provide all a home's electricity. The only way to do that is to completely destroy the roof with the panels, and the property the house is on, by cutting down all the trees so sunlight can hit it.

As someone that lives in the Deep South, I can tell you that the last thing you want is a home with a roof that's baked in the sun all day. But that's just what you need if you want to install highly ineffective and inefficient solar panels.

Check back in 30 years, and it will likely be a mature technology and good option. Now, it's just a boondoogle for the warmists.

Sacha Doblar says in his book Solar History, global warming probably ended in 2000 with negligible man contribution. Solar minimum probably began in 2019 contributing to today's unusual weather patterns.

So global warming ended right as Al Gore launched a lucrative career peddling it.

Sheep hoodwinked again. Looking forward to a cool summer.

goal ..to be in woods near creek with wood fired boiler , well, pump to the creek and solar power...two systems. one powering dc powered air condition another system for all else for the house...outdoor kitchen with gas and wood stove for summer cooking...lowest pop county with lowest property tax and little to no building codes so I can build a cabin to my liking...internet is my only concern. got to have it. 1TB or better with 20Mbs down...a hobbits life for me
