I know the noles don't want to talk about it, but.... That was one of the few times that Spurrier wasnt going to the SEC championship game the next week and fsu got his undivided attention.
He repeatedly said that he didn't care about the fsu game and that they didn't give out rings for beating fsu. Noles refused to take him at his word.
Spurrier is one of those type A ultra competitive guys, we all know that. He never wanted to lose at anything. But the point is, Spurrier always had as his number one goal to win the East, and then when the SEC...he always said do that and let everything else take care of itself. If you don't want to believe it, that is your choice, but he cared a lot more about beating UGA and UT than he ever cared about beating f$u.
Funny how on this board when Jimbo is being bashed, Winston is great and gets all the credit for the wins and the NC. But they'll turn right around and tell us how much Winston sucks and that he's overrated. Hilarious stuff. This board is comedy gold and this thread is legendary!! "If Jimbo had different players on the roster, his team wouldn't have won it all". Lol
You missed the point.
Yep.
He's saying fsu was down on the list of importance compared to winning the SEC and beating Uga. There is no debating that. That's not trolling. If what the poster said is true and if Spurrier really didn't take the FSU game seriously then that would explain him having a losing record to us. How is that trolling??

Now quit trolling.
Why don't you go first and tell us why Bowden had a losing record to UF...OK, fair enough. Now since FSU was down on the list of games he felt was important, what did he do different when he played FSU?? Did he not use certain plays he was saving for the SECCG?? Did he rest players?? What specifically did he do regarding the FSU game to show that he didn't feel it was as important as say UGA??

So you're saying that we're saying since the game wasn't as important to Spurrier as winning the SEC or beating Uga, that he didn't try hard? He's got a point, Pass. It's almost like telling your brother, "You won because dad let you win."
ok, whatever....we are being so petty. It sounded like he was saying that Spurrier was not entirely focused on the FSU game because he was thinking of the SEC championship game. And, apparently, the 1997 game showed what happens when Spurrier focused on the FSU game instead of looking past it.
Then it is factually incorrect. No, I'll leave it as is. Thanks though.

In fact that UF team is a lot like this FSU team. Beast running back. Good defense. Dropped a couple games including one they had no business losing, LSU them and GT for us.
I get it. The noles are upset because they think we aren't giving them any credit for their wins by saying Spurrier didn't value those games as high as others.
But Bowden's losing record is because he stayed too long and was old and senile.
Nah....we ain't winning again until 2020.Yep. Based on this, they should hope that Fisher retires from FSU soon. It might be his only chance to leave FSU with a winning record against Florida.

Asking for clarification because that's what I'm inferring from the 1997 game. Basically that game had Spurrier's focus as opposed to others.
