I honestly don't believe she really went into this about money. I think once her Attorney aunt (and possibly others) got involved is when it escalated.

BB gun battles have been something stupid our players have been doing since the 80's. Normally the upperclassmen vs the freshmen. This happened during Winston redshirt season. No one knows who damaged what so why do you feel Winston vandalized anything??

Okay, let's assume for a moment that Winston is this villainous punk you described...what exactly do you know of the incident? Why is he being singled out as the "lone gunman?"

FACT 1:
On November 27, 2012, just two days after being stopped by FSU Police on the bike trail near Florida State's campus, Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) officers were called out to the Legacy Suites apartments after the manager claimed 13 windows had been damaged by players in a gun battle two days earlier (hours after the bike trail incident) causing $4,200 in damages.

FACT 2:

Winston was not the only individual implicated and has yet to actually be identified as firing or even holding a BB gun. In fact, in this incident, a large percentage of the entire team was involved, yet you only hear about Winston.

According to the property manager, on the night in question he recognized Jameis Winston, Chris Casher, PJ Williams and Mario Edwards Jr involved in a "battle" which caused property damage. The property manager, Dave Sudekum, planned to evict all four players.

FACT 3:
Winston denied having a BB gun during the incident at the apartment while Casher admitted to having one, but claimed he never fired any shots because he did not have a carbon dioxide cartridge. They claim they were attacked themselves by individuals throwing eggs at their window and were shot at with a paintball gun. They do claim they were a part of the "battles" which took place over the course of a month that involved several other players.

FACT 4:

Police found BB's on the ground and witnessed several windows from multiple apartments damaged. There was another battle at another complex by players you have probably never heard about (you decide why) Odds are pretty good, that group who caused damage to individuals, windows, cars and other property at another complex attack, likely did most of the damage at Winston's complex as well, just using common sense.


In the end, 13 players (which would make up over 15% of the scholarship team) were held responsible. Because the manager at Legacy Suites threatened to evict the four players he claimed to have witnessed causing trouble, the entire group of 13 agreed to split the damages between them, coming to about $320 for each. After this, the case was dropped and no charges were filed.


Most reasonable folks would not imagine for one second so many players on one team, particularly such young players at the time and on such a high profile team, all just conveniently had pellet guns.


From reading the reports and using common sense, likely a pellet gun(s), paintball gun(s), eggs and maybe even airsoft guns or something else were used in these battles. Regardless, it was clearly not just Winston with just a single BB gun and likely another case of him just trying to be "one of the guys" as Charlie Ward described him.

I'm so glad the media wasn't following me around my Junior year when we ran out of eggs and my buddy threw a beer bottle that hit the side of the house. Fortunately, when the owner jumped in his truck and came after us, he was unable to catch us. Whew. Could you imagine?

Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports was all but begging all those involved in those first tweets to give him an interview, but none agreed. Pat then decided to turn what these people thought was funny into a negative story.


Four of the people tweeting originally claimed he got up on a table. Three people said he was in the union. Only two of those tweeters mentioned he was actually on a table in the union. Two of the original tweets mentioned he was right in front of HCB, a big lecture hall near the student union. Other tweets at those tweeters further confirmed it was in front of the HCB building.


One of the issues with this entire incident was the media just running with the original tweets and paying no attention to the follow up tweets. According to one of the first tweeters, Winston was never on a table:

Winston could be the biggest POS on planet earth, but no one will ever know for sure, because the media can just keep attacking him knowing no one will do the slightest bit of fact checking. Of course, when Noles do that they get ranked the #1 defensive fanbase in the country.

Wanna know what's truly ironic? I'm not even a huge Winston fan. I prefer the more silent leader approach, like Ward, Greene or Dunn. I just recognize a witch-hunt (deserved or not) when I see it.

We know Winston didn't just become smart, he has always been smart. He was a 4.0 highschool student and has been All-ACC Academic since he's been at FSU. People listen to Winston speak and just assumes he's dumb but it's more of a product of where he is from. If you think by talking country the way he does that he is dumb, what are you saying about many players on your own team who speak the same way?? And BTW, what do you mean that he is now on his "good boy behavior"?? You realize Winston only mistake last season was cursing in the Union right?? The off the field stuff is just some tired blown out of proportion media driven nonsense. No one cares about crab legs and cursing but money hungry websites that write click bait articles and people looking for a reason to hate someone who's willing to click them and drive up their advertising dollars. They'll draft him, put him in some antiquated system, force him to play before he's ready, and he'll bust.

That's why I'm hoping he'll go to a team that actually knows something about the QB position. He has everything you'd want in a QB. 6'3, 220 lbs., 4.5 speed, big arm, accurate, intelligent...he has no weakness. If he busts it's only because the people handling him don't know what they're doing. Similar to how RGIII has been ruined already.

They were certainly a disaster in that area last year, but that was an unusual, and extreme, situation. You don't typically expect your OC to have major heart issues the day of your 3rd preseason game, of a magnitude that makes him unavailable for the season. They basically had the offense installed by the guy, then he was removed from the picture & they were left with a not-ready QB coach as the OC for the season.
The new guy, Koetter, seems to have a solid track record. Jax was pretty good offensively under him, as was Atlanta. They sucked because their D was dreadful.

There's way too many questions about either of these QBs to take them with the top 2 picks.

If Tampa does take Winston, Philly could move up as low as the 7th pick possibly to get Mariotta. Tennessee continually talks about being more interested in seeing what Mettenberger can be, not to mention, financially the guy is a complete steal. They could very possibly find themselves screwed like Washington when they drafted both RGIIIS and Cousins, only to find out they liked Cousins better but are saddled with that top contract.

Tampa really needs to find a way to trade that pick...then draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd.

It just makes zero sense to draft either guy that high.

They painted themselves into this corner by failing to address the QB situation in recent years, and constantly changing coaches and coords over and over. I grew up right down the road a few hours from where Winston grew up.. None of us talk like that, he talks differently than most. Ask Danny, we both grew up in Alabama..

I still believe Winston has nfl caliber talent. He was the main reason for the noles success the past two seasons. At times two years ago he was just about the only reason. Granted he had some bad games this year, but usually followed up a bad half with an exceptional one. However, having said that, I think the bucs should trade out of that pick. They would benefit from some extra picks.

We know Winston didn't just become smart, he has always been smart. He was a 4.0 highschool student and has been All-ACC Academic since he's been at FSU. Called me out?? Really?? You mean the guy who said he's from "right down the road, a few hours away" from where Winston is from. Why would I address something as ridiculous as that?? I live in Tallahassee. Tampa is down the road a few hours away and it's totally different than here. I have lived in both cities. You really need to stop these childish rants of yours or maybe stop drinking.

Often, I can't understand a dadgum thing he says and it's quite irritating. Supposedly he is "school smart" (who knows for sure), but he is DEFINITELY football smart. Kid has a phenomenal mind for the game. It's sad he so often leaves it sitting in the locker room when he leaves.

A "few hours away" is not accurate in any way. Numbers and I both grew up less than two hours away from where he did, we both have been all around the state, and we both know the Birmingham area well.

You, on the other hand, know nothing about that area, do you? You don't know what kind of town Bessemer is nor do you understand that there is nothing "country" about Jefferson County.

But please, go on, tell me more about your immense knowledge about Jefferson County and the state of Alabama.
