Why did everyone's expectations change?

The expectations pre-season were to be right around 50th overall in offense.

We're exactly 50th in total offense and 49th in scoring offense.

We're averaging 90 more yards of offense and 7 more points per game than last season.

That is a pretty good improvement. I agree I expected better play from the OL, but the WR and RB group are actually exceeding my expectations.

I hate the inconsistency of this offense, but the over all output by them is what was expected at the beginning of the season.

Don't forget what McElwain got left with on the offensive side of the ball. 7 OL on scholarship total. Really wouldn't say any of them were exceptional either. He has completely turned over the WR and RB position.

He needs to pick up recruiting on the OL, but other than that I think he is doing a good job. Don't forget about Trask and Franks. Both have far greater physical tools than Del Rio. They just need time to develop and learn the system.
