Personally I think SMU's record is better than their resume. However, Clempson is just some team's 1st round fodder for a comfortable win. IOW, Clemson ain't very good. SMU has some talent on offense but not the juggernault some would have hyped up.

SMU is just like Indiana, they dont play anybody either. Put them in the SEC and they lose 3-4 maybe 5.

They may have been the lost cheatingest team, but they didn't deserve the death penalty back in 1988. SMU was fun to watch back in the early 80's with Eric Dickerson, Craig James and QB Lance McIlhenny. I believe HC Bobby Collins also coahed at New England prior to being the coach at SMU.

Those were some bad boys back in the day

It was kind of a blessing in disguise, for me anyway, that they beat Dan Marino and the Pitt Panthers in the Cotton Bowl. All the scouts said Marino had a bad senior year, who fell into Don Shula's lap very late into the 1st round.

Back then, I didn't know who to hate more, Miami or Nebraska. SMU should have gotten some kind of split the the NC.

A little humbling would do them some good…
Personally, I didn't have any beef with Bama fans till I overheard a conversation between a Gator and Bama fan in the cafeteria at work. The Bama fan spewed some crap about his best friend being a Gator fan but hated Tebow. He also lied about Tebow's parents living in a multi million dollar mansion. That's when I butted in and said my sister in law lives about 8 houses down from the Tebow's in Bryceville, and since when did a barely 3,000 square foot home qualified as a mansion. They actually live on several acres of land. I then walked away and mumbled, dumbass, just loud enough for him and the Gator fan to hear me.

So this means Rhett Lashlee is off the Gator coaching wish list for 2026?

Being a Gator fan, I don't understand the Bama Derangement Syndrome (unless we are playing them, then it's Mach 10). It's not like they are the Leg humping Jorts or Snaggletoofed Vols. 😂
I have no quarrel with Bammer either. In the early days of the SEC championship game they an UF were regulars.

Unless Clemson miraculously scores, they're headed to OT.

SMU should have kicked it past the end zone

My brother and I talk about this every time we watch a CFB game together. What kind of dumbass special teams coach allows the other team a chance at a big return? It's not like these kickers today can't send the kickoff from the tee into the end zone stands. Yet I see Slingblade doing this ocassionally (not lately though, maybe he is learning).

That was an insane comeback and ending.

The SMU dudes got so excited that they scored a TD that they forgot to play the next play (kickoff)…cameras showed them jumping around like imbeciles on the sideline right before the final kickoff…

Put that one in the “life lesson” category…

As it was, given a walkoff field goal win for Clemson…sadgator may get what he wants…

You can’t penalize a team for earning the right to play in an extra game…
