Of course we all are homers, Orange and Blue to the core. But let's look at the landscape. I remember just 3-5 years ago a poster who has been called negative would go on RANTS about an Indoor Practice Facility. He would get ridiculed, insulted, and even questioned about his allegiance to the Gators. Fast forward in the DeLorean with Doc Foley and Marty McElwain and it was THE FIRST THING they addressed.
Have you seen the facilities at Alabama? Forget the weight room, how about the nutrition center? When was the last time you checked out the dorms the FSU players have? We are pushing kids into just NEWLY RENOVATED 4/2 rooms, while their stomach still hurts at night from wanting taco bell. Baylor sure did lay the infrastructure for success with McLane funding huh? What in the world did we do with our money? INVEST IN WOMEN'S SPORTS. We are adding slowly, but with the O'Connell Center finally getting attention you have to wonder if we are spread thin.
The offense looked GREAT the first couple of games. Then again, some will say this was Will Grier, others will say we played the best Defenses at the end of the year (yes I am including Vanderbilt in there). Wins against Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ole Miss are a distant memory. Fresh on the recruits mind is the 3 game losing streak with Del Rio, Appleby, Franks, and Harris ready to lead the troops.
Did the staff adjust the scheme to the players? Did Treon Harris have a read-option installed for him? Did Geoff Collins zone improve Vernon Hargreaves draft stock? Was this sincerely Will Muschamp's team and Jim McElwain was winning with the same if not worse formula? At least Kurt Roper moved the ball with Treon Harris, Doug Nussmeier looked lost... James Winston was accused of rape and played throughout the season with his Coach next to him. JC Jackson was acquitted of all charges and not welcomed back.
We will always get a percentage of the cream of the crop. But in order to really get our pickings and push kids out like Meyer used to do, and Harbaugh is currently doing, we will have to re-establish our identity. We were lucky to hold on to Franks after the stunt Mac and Co. pulled with Eason. This is not the premier destination at the moment. This staff hangs their hat on DEVELOPMENT, (WHICH ZUNIGA'S TRANSFORMATION IS IMPRESSIVE) and we will need it to once again push recruits from all over back in this direction.
