Jay Bilas who I like as a basketball analyst but he has been advocating for these athletes getting paid by their university due to the funds they generate. He just pointed to the Vandy bball coach being fired after only 3 years (after going 0-18 in the SEC) as an argument that NCAA sports are really Pro sports.

Besides the hundreds of thousands these schools pay for these kids to get an education, training, food, lodging etc, I find it ridiculous considering they are student athletes, not employees.

Sure colleges profit (not all), but they dont operate these programs to try and lose money or simply break even.

The thought of some of these kids walking around with thousands of dollars seems like it could turn out very poorly.

Besides that, the logistics of it all and also the Title 9 issues make it seem like a nightmare.

Thought it would make for an interesting discussion.
