If I were to name the biggest outliers in the SEC conference when it comes to fit and culture, I would have to say Missouri.. They are more midwestern in terms of geography, they fit in the B1G culturally imo.

That got me thinking about another conference mate that has more ties to Texas than Florida.. That school of course being the former conference mates of SMU, TCU, Texas and Texas A&M, the pig porkers of Arkansas... They won a National Title in the 60s, and have made a couple SEC championship games, but I have never seen them as anything but a spoiler for LSU or Alabama occasionally.. They have had some big peronalities like Houston Nutt, a scumbag named Bobby Petrino, and the human embodiment of pig sooie in Brett Beilema.. They just seen like the red headed step child of the SEC.. They arent jokes like the Missisippi schools have been in the past, nor are they a basketball powerhouse like Kentucky, or a academic like Vanderbilt.. They have a history unlike South Carolina, but to me they are the most forgotten school in our conference.. They are the only school in the Ozark state, and they have no natural rival imo that views them as their number one rival. Nobody seems to ever say anything about them, there is no bad blood.. I seriously can't say anything about them that makes me dislike them.. It's odd..

The weirdest job in the SEC is the dude who has to run to the 7-11 to buy the ice bag for UGA...

They are in a strange situation now that they are in the SEC. I think their fans consider LSU their biggest game now but LSU fans don't see it that way obviously despite Arkansas having some success against them.

The piggies are one of those 'Almost' but not quite teams...

1989 UGly 24 - 15 Ark SWC - Independence Bowl
1990 Miss 21 - 17 Ark SWC - season
1991 Tenn 31 - 27 Ark SWC - Cotton Bowl
1992 Miami 18 - 16 Ark SWC - season

1995 SEC-C UF 34 - 3 Ark - SEC-C

2002 SEC-C UGly 30 - 3 Ark - SEC-C

2006 SEC-C UF 38 - 28 Ark - SEC-C
Even when they had Mc-Daddy and 'Felix the Scat' as their RB's.
(RB's Darren McFadden 1/4 Raiders & Felix Jones, 1/22 Cowboys)

Since then, MsSt has moved past them imo...

Spoiler for LSU? Auburn has won the western division more times than LSU. At least Auburn has played in the championship game more times. Another example of how reality differs from what retards on the internet believe

Here’s some fir you. allbarn hasn’t beaten LSU in BR since 1997. LSU is 7-3 vs allbarn the last ten years. You’ll be third in the west at best.

yet we still won the west 2 out of the last 3 times we played down there.

Just when I think you can not get any dumber you once again prove me wrong

Back to the original point...

sadgator has absolutely no feeling about Arkansas at all.

However, at least Arkansas is a geographic fit for the SEC (and they have as many rednecks as any of us).

Missouri really is the outlier. They should totally still be in the Big 12 or Big 10. There are many more schools that fit better geographically than Missouri.

Up and coming USF and UCF make better sense for the SEC, than old and out of the way Mizzou and aTm...

No they don’t. It’s about TV audiences, not geography. SEC already owns Florida. Same reason tech would never get in, or FSU, or Clemson.

Your point is well-made, but sadgator has a hard time believing the SEC wouldn’t take FSU and Clemson if they came knocking on the door one day...

They won’t though, because they have too easy of a path to the playoffs every year...

You forgot Mullen's chiropractor.
Other odd jobs...

*The guy that carries Jimbo’s change purse.
*Ed Orgeron’s translator.
*The handlers for Mrs. Malzahn.
*Kirby’s stylist.
*The guy who holds Muschamp’s ritalin container.
*Skoal can collector at Neyland.
*Joe Alleva’s male masseuse (fired).

True. And I shouldn’t have said it’s not geography. It is to the extent that it opens new TV markets for the SEC. that was one reason we were hearing Va Tech being thrown around as a possibility.

Missouri was for geographical reasons and a new TV market. It has everything to do with money.

Mizzous entire state population is listed at only 5,988,527

The Tampa Bay area (USF) population is 3,091, 399 and continues to expand rapidly.

Orlando's (Orange County) (UCF) alone is 1,352, 933 and continues to expand rapidly.

Combined 4,444,332 and they already have a rivalry going.

The band across central Florida is likely more than double those combined local numbers and growing.
If those 2 schools joined the SEC, it would mushroom the following of the conference imo.
You can also compare those 4 schools enrollment numbers if you like.
UCF-USF-aTm-Mizzou

Now add up the number of long time D1's in Texas. They are area loyal and split that state, with Texas getting the lion's share with their own network, and always will.

Opinions, each to his own...

You think those people here in Tampa and over in Orlando aren’t SEC fans already?

Some are, some aren't, just like anywhere else in the nation, (Tx - Mizzou).o_O

You think that everyone in Missouri and Texas are now SEC fans because of the 2 most recently added teams to the SEC?

UCF and USF will likely never be in the SEC. The Orlando and Tampa markets are already covered. And by the way they both get lousy attendance for their football games and USF doesn’t even have their own football stadium. They aren’t good fits for the SEC.

SEC wasn’t in those states before so a significant percentage now follow the SEC. it’s really pretty simple logic.

That's actually pretty obsolete bs drivel attempting to pose as simple-minded logic.
And that's likely why you attracted a couple of twits to agree with it.

The SEC Network and ESPN are available nation wide. They are already in every state.
Anyone in Tex that was interested in the SEC was already paying attention, including aTm fans. Now those specific aTm fans have a 'vested interest' in the SEC, so that's all that's added. And the same thing goes for those in Missouri, and for the specific Mizzou fans.

Speaking for myself, adding aTm and Mizzou did nothing for me. I only watch them if/when they are playing the Gators. Otherwise, I couldn't care any less and I couldn't name a single player on either's current team, not even their current QB's. o_O

PS
I'm not fronting for either UCF nor USF to join the SEC. I'm just saying that for me personally, I'd have rather had them than aTm or Mizzou. Each to their own... :p

The PAC 12 is a part of my TV package. Do I watch it? No. Why? Because I don’t give a shit about them unless they are playing an SEC team.

Sorry, but ESPN has been in Texas and Missouri for their entire existence, as has the newer SEC Network, a subsidy of ESPN.... o_O -- iG

Same reason tech would never get in, or FSU, or Clemson.

State of Florida D1's -- UF--FSU-Mia --- UCF-USF-- FAU-FIU.
D1 conferences in Florida -- SEC-ACC-AAC-SunBelt

So just because some twit dweeb claims something, that doesn't make it true, or simple logic. o_O

Multi-talented, he can talk outta his azz, and several sides of his buttlicker mouth at the same time. And sniffin' all those butt fumes has certainly destroyed what few brain cells that he was born with. Verdict = He's identified as the Official Athens village idiot.

I always thought of Clemson as an SEC school anyhow.. Florida State would never join the SEC, they looked at the Big 12 a few years ago.. I should never say never actually, if the money is right then they would join most likely..

Spoiler for LSU? Auburn has won the western division more times than LSU. At least Auburn has played in the championship game more times. Another example of how reality differs from what retards on the internet believe

You should cherish that championship.. It's your teams "one shining moment".

USF doesn’t even have their own stadium and their attendance sucks. UCF goes undefeated and still can’t sell out their 40,000 seat stadium.

Neither one are close to SEC material.
