We will no longer be the United States of America

Two things have destroyed journalism. The advent of huge media corporations that own hundreds of media outlets, and social media, where everyone has a voice, and the hubbub drowns out the real journalists.

Give us your list of 'real' journalists.

I want the names. Go.

I actually like a stalemated government as well. We tend to get some decent outcomes when everybody has to compromise. When either side gets all the power things get sideways.
LOL when pubs controlled everything nothing got done. Kind of hard to go sideways when you control the ball but punt on first down so you can play defense.

Trump got the two most important things he wanted: A huge tax break for himself and his buddies (but since he pays no taxes not sure why this was so important to him), and got the exemption for inheritance tax doubled. Pretty sure he wanted it eliminated entirely, but couldn't get that through.

He also wanted to gut or otherwise ruin a bunch of departments, and did serious damage to the EPA, the State Department, HUD, education, etc. His last attempt was the new postmaster, but that was just to try to destroy mail-in voting, as he knew it wouldn't go his way.

LOL that's not going sideways. Its pretty minor stuff. And no damage to alphabets just dialing back their scope and bringing accountability to unelected agencies who frankly should all be on very short leashes because they are unelected.

Sideways is when half the country opposes it and a party rams through zer0care with late night shenanigans and questionable parliamentary procedures that affect the lives of all the people and 16% of the GDP.

Rushing through a document mandating compulsory confiscation of labor. 3000+ pages of the "Sec of Heath shall" have the power to determine or do.

Sideways is overturning the will of 30 states via a mandate by 5 black robed dictators pretending to be jurists.

Agree on the first point, on the second the verdict is still out imho.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'm hoping the "journalists" and the crazy bastards on social media can affect positive change for MSM. Maybe not...but there are few other realistic options.

The media would scream bloody murder but I believe a self-contained and self-policex Bar Association for media could work. Lying gets you dinged and eventually you lose your license if you continue to offend. ***offend is a poor choice of words...break public faith is more succinct.

If the country splits can we give North Carolina and Georgia to the Socialists and us Normals can have Pennsylvania and Arizona?
