@sadgator watch All-Japan Pro Wrestling from the 90s. They beat the shit out of each other. Misawa (who was the Ric Flair of Japan) literally died in the ring. Kawada broke his arm early in a match with Misawa and wrestled another 45 mins with the broke arm. They honestly did shit that never should have been done.

Well, it's really simple at its core. Marriage is covered by contract law. Have you ever heard it called the marriage contract? And contracts can only be agreed to by entities with compos mentis, ie being of sound mind. Animals cannot be of sound mind. They do not have the capability of rational thought required to enter into a contract.

I have, of course, ignored the ethical and moral implications, as it is enough that it cannot possibly be legal under any circumstances. Well, I guess in a Planet of the Apes scenario, it would be possibly legal.
