I love it!

8 regular season games in the state? Just awesome.

Certainly some rival fans will cry about this. I love that we can see 8 UF games this year without leaving the state.

Looking at those 4 games I would say SC is a train wreck so not much danger there but KY (if they find a decent QB) and Missouri could be capable of pulling upsets in those games. It just sucks GA has such a favorable SEC schedule. Would hate for that Bama game at home to possibly cost us the East even if we beat GA.

Call sadgator crazy, but he firmly believes Florida has a better chance of beating Bama at home than LSU on the road this year…
I hear you, but to paraphrase bob knight, even when you’re outmatched and outmanned, and things look bleak, when I look at the other team’s sideline and see Ed orgeron, I know we have a chance! (As it happened he was referring to lsu also, in that instance it was dale brown.)

What scares me is they get a decent team to work out the kinks before our game. We only get FAU and USF.

I think we will have a good idea if they are capable of pounding us at our field or not after watching their Miami game. Curious to see Bama and the play of their lines. Just worried we might not have enough there to match them and doubt we can sling the ball like last season if that is the case.

It's the kind of game we win. Highly ranked team coming to Gainesville. We've done it before but it's usually against an overrated opponent. Bama is really, really good.

Its smart by Florida tbh. Obviously they are scared to leave but hey, smart by them.

Bama is gonna Donkey Punch Miami in Atlanta…

Seriously….

Hate to say it but if they do I think they will be too much for us even at home. Miami has slowly built that team up where its decent now. Better than when they hung with us late with Franks doing his thing. That QB is decent.

I'd be surprised if King is even close to 80% healed from ACL reconstruction. He tore it in late December and there's no way his knee will handle the beating he'll take with that mediocre O line. He should just redshirt(again) and make an attempt at a 7th year of eligibility, a la Andre Debose.

Okay so I exaggerated just a little mentioning Debose and his 8 years at UF.

No effing way the SEC goes after FSU, that ship sailed over 30 years ago. You should thank Bowden for that.

Did the SEC start this conference switching last time?
Kind of. South Carolina from the ACC in the early 90s and Arkansas from the disintegrated SWC. They formed two divisions and a conference championship game that has become the norm. Expanded to 14 with A&M and Mizzou. Big10 expands after that as well as the ACC.

Im telling you there are discussions. I dont want it to happen, id rather the ACC and big 10 join together
I’d rather see a merger too. But if the SEC adds to 20 you can see a path towards the SEC adding more and becoming its own college football league. They could do that and break away from the NCAA altogether. It’s a long shot but there’s also more than enough schools that would love to create their own rules away from the dysfunctional NCAA model.

Not as much pressure for that now since big time fans can basically pay recruits to play now no matter the real market value of their likeness at the time.

When was SCar ACC? I just remember them being in the Metro Conference and SEC.

Big 10 started it...kinda, they took in Penn State 1990. ACC took FSU. Two years later the SEC took SCar and Arkansas. 1991 the Big East took Va Tech, Miami, WVU, Temple, and Rutgers. The largest expansion of any conference.

Later a large shift in conference expansion happened when the ACC took Miami, Va Tech, and Boston College. That's when shit went crazy. The Big East then took Louisville, Cincy, and USF...the Big East finally fell apart and the basketball schools took their ball and left. This then formed the AAC.

Not sure how long the Cocks were in the ACC but they've been there for as long as I can remember. Soon after the demise of the SWC, Arkansas joined the SEC in 1992, I believe. The Cocks joined the same year.

South Carolina was in the ACC from 1953-1971. Per Wiki.

The SEC created the conference championship games. They were the first to go to 12 teams. Since then there hasn't really been a wave, it's just happened in spurts. But if OU and UT do join the SEC, the Big 12 is done, at least as a major football conference, and that will set off a huge restructuring.

The question is what will Okie State do? Will the Big 12 or ACC take them? Will the SEC go to 18 or even 20 and scoop them up? I can see Iowa State getting sponsored into the Big 10 by Iowa, and West Virginia maybe begging their way into the ACC, but the Kansas teams, and Baylor, Texas Tech and TCU, they are screwed, and Okie State might be as well.

SCar football was in the ACC 1953 to 1970. Football was independent 1971-1991. All other sports(or at least basketball) was Metro Conference 1971-1991.

I think the big 12 and pac12 need to join and the big 10 and ACC need to join together. Either that or we all need to be in the SEC and just have 1 or 2 mega conferences. Having OU and Texas leave the big 12 effectively crushes the big 12 to g 5 status

I always assumed they were in the ACC since they had an ACC championship.

Possible scenario is.
Iowa State and Kansas State to Big 10
Oklahoma State and TCU to PAC 12
West Virginia to the ACC
Baylor, Kansas, and Texas Tech to the AAC

The only chance miami had to keep it close was ki g and he tore his ACL...... This is such a lose lose game for me... I want them both to lose
You are right, Florida is scared to leave. When we do leave, y'all's battle cry is we are scared to play Miami. That FSU has played Miami so many consecutive years blah blah blah...played USF blah blah blah...

Y'all fvckers ever played FAU? Hmm, too scared to schedule a H&H with UCF? 😂😉
