Trump Risks Ban From Elected Office With Insurrection Evidence
Dec. 19, 2022, 2:25 PM

A special House committee’s vote to refer former President Donald Trump for potential criminal charges in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol brings fresh attention to a Constitutional ban on insurrectionists holding office.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states that no one can “hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State” if they took an oath to support the Constitution and then “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.”

Ratified in 1868, the language was drafted to address former Confederate officeholders. But the text doesn’t spell out exactly how to disqualify someone from running or holding office again.

The House Jan. 6 committee urged the Justice Department on Monday to consider charging Trump with inciting or aiding an insurrection. Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin, who announced the insurrection referral, described it as “a grave federal offense anchored in the Constitution itself” and noted that it was “automatic grounds” for disqualifying someone from holding state or federal office.

Nice try….. isn’t that what the House basically impeached him for the second time?

The events of Jan 6, offensive as they were, do not constitute an insurrection. I heard Trump tell people to peacefully and patriotically make they voices heard. He can’t be held responsible for what instigators in the crowd did.

Man, you know Gay-Ray has nothing better to do but try on his Victoria Secret's lingerie he got in the mail. Arguing with a troll who gets his "news" from sites like Vanity Fair and Vogue becomes comical afterwhile.

What does that have to do with a criminal investigation?
The jury in the impeachment was a majority of his political party

You should go read the Jan 6 cmte report

Sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the evidence presented to the DOJ isn't going to help you or trump

BUT, someone stole Pelosi's letter opener.

Things aren't going so well for anybody who trespassed in Pelosi's office

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Federal prosecutors have added a new charge against a Gravette man in connection with the riots at the U.S. Capitol that interrupted the counting of electoral votes on Jan. 6, 2021.

Our content partner 40/29 reported that Richard Barnett is charged with committing and attempting to commit an act to obstruct, impede and interfere with an officer.

New charges were filed by prosecutors on Wednesday.

Barnett was already facing seven other charges, including theft of government property and obstruction of an official proceeding, and aiding and abetting.

Riley Williams convicted of storming Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Jan. 6 insurrection

A Pennsylvania woman linked to the far-right “Groyper” extremist movement was convicted Monday of several federal charges after prosecutors said she was part of a group that stormed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Riley June Williams was found guilty of six federal counts, including civil disorder. But the jury deadlocked on two other charges, including “aiding and abetting the theft” of a laptop that was stolen from Pelosi’s office suite during the insurrection. The jury also failed to reach a unanimous verdict on whether Williams obstructed an official proceeding.

Williams joined a mob’s attack on the Capitol after attending the “Stop the Steal” rally, where then-President Donald Trump addressed thousands of supporters earlier that day. Entering Pelosi’s office, she found a laptop on a table and told another rioter, “Dude, put on gloves,” before someone with a black gloved hand removed the computer, according to prosecutors.

Williams later bragged online that she stole Pelosi’s gavel, laptop and hard drives and that she “gave the electronic devices, or attempted to give them, to unspecified Russian individuals,” prosecutors said in a June 2022 court filing.

I heard that too.

But you have to remember, Twitter deleted his video address and all of his Tweets asking for peace and the committee didn't play one second of any of that - including his statement at the end of his speech where he asked everyone to "go peacefully and let your voices be heard" (as the riot was already going on...further proving he didn't incite anything).

So @RayGravesGhost never saw any of it, it doesn't fit the narrative that people want him to believe (that he now just bleats repeatedly).

Yeah ray ray also claims he's never heard of Sam Brinton either. Dude lies like a rug, although I will believe he has graduated from college before I would buy that @BSC911 has.

After 3 hours plus of doing nothing to stop the insurrection because he wanted it to happen

trump continued the Big Lie

And her equally brave daughter was there to film it all!

So the Pelosi women were there facing instant death on Jan 6th, while her husband was likely at home getting hammered (literally) by a 'right winger'.

What a bunch of perverts 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Yeah, funny how the daughter was there filming it, almost like she knew ahead of time that something was going to happen. Hmmm …..

Wow. Why do I feel like that exchange will end up appearing as evidence in court before it's said and done?
Funny, the Jan 6 Committee, who was tasked to prove it was all Trump's fault, errr I mean to find out what happened, never talked about this or even questioned anyone from the Pelosi Camp???? WHY was that?????

The video is part of the evidence...it was presented if you actually watched the cmte rather than just post about something you never watched

In fairness, the January 6th committee went to pain staking lengths (prime time slot, hired a director, scripted questions) to try to build the clear public case on Trump.

To then say, "go read the (presumably) 100 page report" means they failed in that objective.

And public & legal sentiment has shifted hasn't it?

Majority of Americans now understand that trump is responsible and criminal charges have been advocated by federal judges, prosecutors, and witnesses

Who said that? LOL.

And what 100 page report are you referring to?

I think the final report was 850 ish pages.

I will just let everyone know that what happened on 1/6 is babies play compared to what we all are prepared for to save our Country. And it will not be a very long, or fair fight..I promise. Keep stealing elections and find out.
