Man, for a team that lost to Wake Forest three-straight years no more than eight years ago, 'Noles fans are awfully uppity.
I wrote a reasonable post about Jameis Winston last week that acknowledged why his past transgressions, confirmed or alleged, make him a difficult player to take No. 1. Well, you would have thought I bashed Mother Teresa, Bobby Bowden and Publix all in the same post. The vitriol was unbelievable, though some of the hate-tweets that rolled in were rational and understanding. And by "some" I mean "none."
Even for a school that still does the tomahawk chop and thinks of Jimbo Fisher as a paragon of virtue, a few of the responses were shocking. If tweets could be rated, these would be getting the hard "R" - Fifty Shades of Grey style.
But I get it. That's your school. That's where you tailgated for hours and passed out before games, and ignored the football team for your first two years, then started going to games when they got good in the past two seasons. And though I have a sneaking suspicion some of the most vocal critics were simply Florida State fans not alums, the idea that a fan base can have so much pent up aggression after winning a national championship and making the inaugural college football playoff is laughable. I mean, Florida fans would never act that way.
