I like the weight increases with the DTs but what the heck is going on with Jefferson as he was supposed to have been 252 a week ago or so which is even too light I think. He is listed at 242 now. I am scared Michigan might be able to exploit these light DEs like Jefferson and Zuniga with that power run game they have. They run quite a bit on those iffy passing distance downs based on last season. I think in the SEC someone like Jefferson needs to be around 260.

Gonna finally have to rely on our offense anyway to put up some points and help them.

SS Marcel Harris 6-0 208 led the team in 2016 with 73 tackles.
How big do you need to be to tackle a RB, or the QB for that matter?

Weight is balanced with speed and agility on a DL.
There are 15 DL'men with a 358 to 242 spread.
Half of those 15 would make a 2 deep rotation.
Any of the 4 biggest DE's can play DT if needed.

4 Man Spread 317 to 260
DE Elijah Conliffe 6-4 317 Fr
DE Zachary Carter 6-4 270 Fr
DE Luke Ancrum 6-5 263 rsSo
DE Jachai Polite 6-2 260 So
-----
6 Man Spread 254 to 242
DE Jordan Sherit 6-4 254 rsSr
DE Jabari Zuniga 6-2 254 rsSo
DE Antonneous Clayton 6-2 254 So
DE Keivonnis Davis 6-3 252 Jr
DE CeCe Jefferson 6-1 242 Jr
DE Jordan Smith 6-7 242 rsFr
=====

3 Man Spread 358 to 290
DT Tadarrell Slaton 6-4 358
DT Khairi Clark 6-1 315 rsJr
DT Kyree Campbell 6-3 305 Fr-EE
DT Taven Bryan 6-4 291 rsJr
DT Richerd Desir-Jones 6-0 290 rsSo

And those weights tend to go up and down over the course of a season. I can't see any problems with where they are, a month before the season starts.

How big are Bama's DE's that are starting?

Bama shut everyone's running game down last season when their starters were still playing. Did they play 250 lb. DE's much?

We are weak at DT depth. Ancrum is solely a DT. But at 263 is not going to give us any meaningful minutes.

Jefferson looks pretty thin there so that low 240s may possibly be true. I guess he wants the NFL to know his future is LB and he won't be growing into an NFL DE. He is lighter than some of the LBs Bama uses to rotate around the line of scrimmage.

Don't know, couldn't care any less. If you had a point to make, then you missed by a mile. If you want to talk about UA's DE, then do so and list their weights if it's important to you. (Jack Youngblood) o_O

I know it might not be a good thing to have 242 lb DEs in there too much when its those intermediate yardage downs where Michigan will still run power on you. I don't think it would work out too well sometimes with Jefferson and Zuniga being as light as they are.

Marcell Harris 6-1 211 led the team with 73 Tkls in 2016.

MLB David Reese 6-0 244.

Strength and agility to get off or throw off the blocker is what's needed, and then the ability to wrap up and make the tackle.
Weight at DE is irrelevant,,, IF you can do the job, i.e. Jack Youngblood! o_O

Yes, let us go back to the 1970s and pretend the game and the athletes have changed.

HardPaw is going to run right @ the lizzerd smalish front 7 . Instant, you better hope Jack Youngblood is right ?

The stupid is strong with that one. Marcell Harris wasn't playing DE at 211 pounds, which is the position that's being discussed. And our scheme which used a rover spilled everything to the outside so we could run to the ball, which would explain why Harris had so many tackles.

Quit using football knowledge, just post random stats that you have no idea what they mean or why they are important

I mean the response literally didn't make any sense.

Fever: "I'm concerned we're light at DE."
Insta: "Well, our safety is 210 lbs. size doesn't matter"

Um, okay? And? The two have nothing to do with each other. Maybe the point would be relevant if Harris was playing DE.

Playing hybrid DT/DE, CeCe has 59 career tackles, 5 sacks and 7 quarterback hurries over his first two seasons.

He was on the SEC All-Freshman team in 2015, and the media selected him to the 2017 preseason All-SEC second team.

He has the ability to play inside or outside, but with his 6-foot-1, 242-pound frame, he is probably better suited playing off the edge.

For 2017, he was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List.
He was also named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.

“He’s good and he’s strong, super strong surprisingly no matter how skinny he gets,” defensive tackle Taven Bryan said. “It’s country strength.”

My question would be; does the defensive coaching staff know how to use CeCe in their scheme?
