Three in 10 games. In games against LSU, Mizzou, and Vandy. 3 unsportsmanlike penalties is 3 too many in any year. They are actions and decisions that just shouldn’t be allowed by the coaches and players. The culture of the program should be above selfish actions after 3 years.

This "culture" has been part of the program (and all Big 3 schools) for as long as Ive been watching Gator football (1982) and even took place under the guy your moniker is in honor of. Arrests, fights, penalties, etc etc.

It is what it is. I hope we find the monk that can change it but it will take a miracle. Although I agree that Dan has a unsportsmanlike penalty issue has UF been on the bad side of the news as far as arrests since his arrival?

Excellent point. There’s a fine line between playing with passion, fire, and emotion, and actin’ the fool...right now, we’re definitely on the wrong side...but overall thus-far (knock on wood)...it doesn’t appear to be a character thing...

3 in a season is too many? I think that's a bit over the top.

You have top tier, 18-22 year old athletes. It's going to happen.

I understand getting personal fouls those happen in the speed of a game. I do not understand unsportsmanlike penalties. You get those for excessive celebrations, taunting, and fighting. I don’t think it’s too much to ask players to not do what they know they shouldn’t do. It is nothing more than look at me selfish undisciplined garbage. Celebrating making a tackle? That’s what you are on scholarship to do. Are you surprised you made the play? I think it shows an inferiority mindset and a culture of individuality.

I do agree with that. Slaton doing his crawl was silly.

This shit goes back to Tony Lilly getting a personal foul against USC (back when they were great) to allow a tie game. It's part of our legacy........:D But it really shouldn't be. Saban doesn't put up with this shit.

Florida, FSU, and Miami players have done some hideous stuff as far back as I can remember. Other teams do it as well (LSU dude on the pick 6 return) but it seems more of the Florida Big 3.

The problem was, when it seemed to hit its "popularity", Miami was on a throne and it was labeled as "swag" and this to a large extent this made it acceptable.

If you are on the Gators defensive side of the ball how can any of them have any sort of cockiness or "swag"? You get schooled repeatedly by freshman QBs or flat out manhandled in the run game yet you run your mouth? Shut up, get in the weight room so you can get off blocks and stop the run. If I see Bama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Ohio State players doing the garbage our defensive players do celebrating like clowns over basic plays this weekend or if they get unsportsmanlike penalties I will just admit I am out of touch.

It's the NFL culture. NFL players will get their asses handed to them every play and then make one tackle, and start pounding their chests like Tarzan. It's been handed down to CFB, won't be long till high school and pee wee league follow.

I do believe the frog face Mickey Andrews was the DB coach back then. During that time, UF actually led the nation in personal foul penalties. Can't remember what opponent it was, but an opposing player was laid on the artificial turf after a personal foul penalty, and the crowd cheered.

Those were different times.....Remember Jack Tatum? (not a Gator). The Assassin.
