Uhhh...ok...So our loss to FSU MEANT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING....

And there's the issue of the Seminoles being ranked ahead of a team that (1) has the same won-loss record as we do and (2) beat us by a whole bunch of points this year. I understand that Louisville hasn't looked very good in November, but if I'm those guys, I'm not happy with the system we've adopted.

I have no idea how to make this process seem fairer other than to reduce the element of human bias by expanding the field to the five conference champions plus 3 at-large teams. There would still be room for human error if we moved to this system, and there would certainly be the chance that a conference champion would be clearly unworthy at times, but with 8 teams the odds of leaving anyone out who is truly deserving would go way down.

Not a fan of the committee, but I'll wait to see their final rankings before freaking out. Their ranking is based on what has happened to date. Ohio State and Michigan are going to drop on Sunday as they are both sitting at home. If Alabama, Clemson, Washington, and Penn State win that is likely going to be the playoff. If I was an OSU fan I would be pulling for an upset this weekend. It is far from a given that OSU is in. TCU dropped from #3 to #6 after championship weekend in 2014 so there's precedent for it. Ohio State is in no way safe IMO. I think they need Colorado, Wisconsin, or Virginia Tech to win.

Highly doubt a 2 loss Penn State goes over 1 loss OSU despite winning head to head and the conference possibly. That would rule if they both had 1 loss.

There's no doubt that the current contentious system generates a lot of conversation, and maybe that's the ultimate goal, but if the goal should be to insure the best team is crowned champion, they need to expand the field to 8 teams.

That final point is one at that has been shared before. In this very thread. It is academic in the discussion of what happens this year..

We'll likely never know because Alabama, Clemson, Washington, and Penn State probably won't all win. If they do though, I think Buckeye fans are going to be crying on Sunday when they drop to #5.

meH. Going to 6 or 8 teams would dilute the regular season games, and even the conference championship games even further.

I would be very much OK with that final four. If Penn State, or Washington loses, then it gets a bit more interesting.

Still doubt it but they could possibly saying Penn St beat them head to head and won the conference despite the 2 losses I guess.

They had 12-1 Alabama and 12-1 Oregon ahead of 13-0 FSU in 2014. OSU fans are engaging in wishful thinking if they think they're safe. The precedent is there if the 4 aforementioned teams all win on Saturday.

apparently not enough

i'd love to see PSU get in over OSU, those buckeye fans hate penn staters more than Michigan from the ones i've met and seen... That would kick them directly in the nuts

True but the difference in the SOS isnt there in this case. I think it would simply be if conference championship and head to head override the extra loss. It will be interesting to see how it goes down.

Oregon's SOS was #20 and FSU's was #21 so I don't think that was it. My prediction is that if Bama, CU, Washington, and PSU all win the committee will go with 1. Alabama 2. Washington 3. Clemson 4. Penn State. If someone loses then who the heck knows (would be good for OSU either way). I do think Washington will be #2 if they win as they play #8 whereas Clemson plays #23.

OSU is not falling out. The statement the committee released last week basically said OSU is in and PSU has no way to get in.

The only debate at this point is if Wash or Clem loses does Wiscy go over Michigan.

If both Clem and Wash lose expect 3 big ten teams and Bama

I think they would let the Big 10 winner go over Michigan since the losses are the same and the good wins would be about the same despite the head to head.

psu would have to win 59-0 to even get a look

We will see but I think some of you might be wrong about Penn State not getting in if they actually have to make that decision if a 2 loss team will move up to #4. If there are no upsets and Michigan stayed a spot ahead of Penn State that doesn't mean they would have made the same decision for the # 4 spot if there is an upset. Maybe we will find out - it will definitely be interesting to see what they do in that case.

I'm all for using the 'eye' test and all that to compare two teams from different conferences who don't play and whatnot. But if head-to-head doesn't mean anything anymore then why play the games? Just make it a beauty pageant at that point and be done with.

Yep. Plus winning the conference championship game, which for most p-5 teams is a quarter final elimination game, is significant.

The committee, and I don't blame them from a revenue stand point, want it to be Alabama vs Michigan and Clemson vs Ohio State.

The national title matchups there are too good to pass up.

Alabama vs OSU in a 2014 rematch.

Harbaugh could beat Bama in a massive upset and rematch OSU.

Or, there could be a Bama rematch with Clemson OR Clemson looks for redemption for a national title.

Those are great story lines.

Washington basically has Chris Perersen finally getting his shot at a title.

im just waiting for clemson or washington to lose this week, will probably be washington...

Yep. Like I've been saying the whole thing was political. Idk why anybody thought it would be smart to have a bunch of people with their biases deciding in a backroom who gets to go to a playoff. This BS is why we went to the computers originally to begin with. Michigan has lost 2 of their last 3 games and have dropped exactly two spots during that time. It's ridiculous.
Ditto, the BCS (like it or not) was created BECAUSE of all of the bias complaints of humans deciding the polls.

The committee said PSU is not getting in. Michigan beat them by like 40
