Pasted in from ESPN/Yahoo:

"It seems like everything is going Georgia’s way given the way the team has been recruiting the past 48 hours but that isn’t the case when it comes to an important member of this year’s team.

ESPN is reporting that linebacker Natrez Patrick has entered a drug treatment program following a probation violation and will miss the team’s Rose Bowl semifinal game against Oklahoma and the rest of the College Football Playoff.

“We resolved his probation violation today,” William Healan III, Patrick’s attorney, told ESPN. “Natrez is getting some treatment right now and we’re glad we’ve put this behind him. We’re looking forward to his future.”

The junior was arrested following the SEC championship game and was facing a misdemeanor drug charge for marijuana possession. While those chargers were dropped, that arrest trigger a drug test as part of his probation agreement in another county. Patrick apparently failed the test and will enter a treatment program as a result.

The linebacker was the Bulldogs’ sixth-leading tackler this season and an important part of the defense — when he was on the field. Patrick served a four-game suspension after an October arrest and was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor marijuana possession last year. He, along with teammate and fellow linebacker Roquan Smith, were also investigated by police for alleged pot use but no charges were filed in the matter.

A source told ESPN that Patrick could return to the team in 2018 if he stays out of trouble but it’s also possible he jumps to the NFL instead. Senior Reggie Carter will likely take his place at linebacker for the semifinal against the Sooners on New Year’s Day."
