That's pretty much why they're leaving on their own so they can make another attempt at sneaking back into the US.
That makes no sense gd3. Sneaking back in would only get them thrown back out again with the same penalty imposed.
Am I missing something?
If they leave on their own now, then they can hope and work to return the legal way, otherwise, always an illegal that can and should be imprisoned on a 2nd offense. 1st offense is a simple deportation with no prison time, but with no chance of ever getting a legal shot at becoming a U.S. Citizen.

In several Mexican border cities, migrants saw their appointments on Biden's CBP One app canceled just after Trump took office. Some 280,000 people had been logging into the app daily to secure an appointment as of Jan. 7.
