Top 25 ranking....

I love seeing us ranked, but I'm not going to let myself get big headed over it. Ole Miss is looking great so far this season. Yeah they had a close game with Vandy but I am pretty sure they always play Vandy close. It was also after a huge win, and these type of games always happen like that. If we lose, no big deal I won't lose sleep. But if we win, its a huge statement for Mac's first year.

I see us having no less than an 8-4 season now. I see a huge possibility of winning 1-2 on top of those 8 wins, which I hope are FSU and UGA. Imagine having a 10 win season this year.

But why does it matter? If we win, our rank will increase, but if we lose, then we go back to unranked.....I still say rankings are not of much importance at the moment.

It just feels good to finally be ranked again, even if it is only fro a short time. Of course they are of little importance right now, but it's been a long time and like I said it just feels good

Well, so we're ranked. I guess we'll just now have to stay ranked. Ole Piss must DIE!

I think this topic needs revisiting big time after tonight. Florida has proven they are a top 5 team and even though Bama beat the crap out of UGA they lost to the same team Florida is beating the crap out of . JMHO.

Yes you are right because I forgot about the playoffs because of the excitement. Take care of business the rest of the way out and get to and win the SECCG they will be in.

We jumped over FSU in the AP poll. Things are getting back to the way God intended.

The potential playoff participants from the SEC is down to 4. Florida, Bama, LSU and TAMU. Of these, IMO only Bama can get in with a loss.

If UGA wins out, I think they will be in the playoffs.

Maybe if they play like UF did after the OM loss in 2008 and blow everyone out. A 4 td loss in a game that was never close will be hard for voters to forget.
A one loss SEC team will get an invite this year, unless there are four undefeated P5 conference champions

I look at the polls, and there are no top 5 SEC teams. There are 4 in the top 12, but Bama is the highest ranked at 8. I don't think any of us can lose (and drop out of the top 15) at this point in the season and climb back up to the top 4.

Consider the top 4 right now. Two from the Big 12 and two from the Big 10. It is very likely that the only loss any of them will suffer is a loss to the other top 4 team. Which gives them two locks and two teams that would absolutely be ranked higher than any one-loss SEC team other than Bama. Coming on their heels are the ACC, with two currently undefeated teams, and Utah, which I can't get a read on right now.

I really can't see any of us losing a game at this point, dropping out of the top 15, and climbing back over everybody else to the top 4.

The Gators have gone from ranked in the 40's, to #25, to now sitting at #11. (5-0, 3-0 SEC)

#6 Clemp's-son 4-0 (what a joke ranking, for beating a <nuttless> joke by 2 pts) neither of those teams have a 'quality' win.

#7 LSU 4-0, 2-0 SEC (one less SEC game than the Gators)
#8 UA 4-1, 1-1 SEC (lost to Ole Miss at home, the team that UF just schooled)
#9 aTm 5-0, 2-0 SEC (one less SEC win than the Gators)

#10 Choke-la-homa 4-0 (the 4th best team in the Big12/10 is #10? LMFAO) :D
And they don't have a single win against a Top 25 ranked team. Akron-Tenn-Tulsa-WVa.

#11 Florida 5-0, 3-0 SEC (best record in the entire SEC) o_O

#14 Miss 4-1, 2-1 SEC (only loss is to UF 38-10)
# 19 UGly 4-1, 2-1 SEC (only loss is to UA 38-10)

Proving once again that the rankings don't go by actual on the filed performance, but on the media-morons attempting to justify their own previous weeks idiocy....

#15 Nuttless Neutered Lame 4-1 (lost to Clemp's-son)

#?? UK Mildcats 4-1, 2-1 SEC (only loss is to UF)
#?? Mizzou 4-1, 1-1 SEC (only loss is to UK)
#?? Tennis-sea 2-3, 0-2 SEC (it took #10 Okla 2 OT's to finally come from behind to beat them)
#?? SCa 2-3, 0-3 SEC (sad-sad-sad)

So always remember that the media-morons AP Top 25 are the same twits that said that the SECe was a race between UGA and Tennis-sea, and that Auburn would win the SEC-C.

If we make definitive "conference" statements about who does or does not get in with less than half the regular season played, we are affirming conference bias. Too much can happen. Look how different the SEC landscape has become compared to the start.

I fully expect an SEC team should make it even with a loss. But, can't make a blanket statement until everything shakes out.

Yes you can. Right now the SEC is the strongest conference. By any measure. What could possiblity happen over the next 7 games to change that? Not much. But there is one thing.

There is only one thing that might happen to take the bloom of the SEC rose. A two or three loss conference champion.

But under ANY other scenario where there is a one loss or undefeated SEC champion, the SEC gets an invite.

I know that's your opinion. That's fine. Currently the SEC doesn't have a team in the top 4. There are at least 3 different SEC teams that have been ranked in the top 10...but are out now. Teams are moving double digit places in the polls based on one game's result. I'm not saying you are wrong. I am only saying it is too early to make definitive statements.

No, it is not *my* opinion. It is the opinion of the people that do it for a living. Go over to Massey's Ratings and pull up their composite college football ranking. That is an average of better than 50 football polls, human and computer.

SEC teams dominate those polls.

I know you hate it. As well you should. But no matter long much you hold your breath, no matter how often you stamp your feet, beat your breast or pull your hair, you can't escape the dominance SEC teams have on the football landscape.

Sucks to be a fan of a team in the ACC.

Well said

I will make a definitive statement. I'll bet all the money I have that a 1 loss SEC Champion will not get left out of the playoff. The best team from the strongest conference isn't going to get left out. Period.

Well...according to YOU, the ACC was better than the SEC last season.

In another thread, when asked if we were in an ACC v. SEC pissing match discussion you replied:

We are. And comparing the ACC vs the SEC last year, the ACC won.

That's why we wait and see results. Every season.

The good thing for the little brothers is, when the ACC is NOT better, as is almost always the case, then they can fall back to "we don't care about conferences".....just like they only care about bball when they win a few games....lose in tourney...:"we don't care about bball"...Saint Bobby loses a few games you go from "best evah"...to "we don't care about him, we don't want him"....

What if the one loss team is UF with a loss to FSU?
Or maybe we could do some home cooking like the ACC refs did with the swendle in the swamp.
They wanted to make sure a 4 lose team with an automatic bid to a BCS bowl didn't embaress the ACC. Could have been the only non-ranked team to get into a BCS bowl. Theres no way they could let that happen. And they didn;'t

Just because you keep saying it, doesn't make it true.

FSU = 3 football titles
UF = 3 football titles
What does this have to do with an ACC/SEC discussion? If you are to introduce NCs into a ACC vs SEC discussion, then do it for both conferences, not just two teams.

You FSU fans are not real bright. I keep saying that too, and that is also true, just like the SEC >>>> ACC.

Go back and re-read your post. You said it sucks to be a fan of A [specific] team in the ACC. I am a fan of FSU [a team in the ACC]. It just so happens that my team has won 3 Football Titles while being "a team" in the ACC. UF has also won 3 Football Titles while being in a different conference. Since winning titles is the ultimate goal, one can only assume that it either does NOT suck to be a fan of a team [FSU] that plays in the ACC or that it equally sucks to be a fan of a team [UF] that plays in the SEC since both teams have achieved the same goal an equal amount of times.

I watch my team (regardless of conference) and good football match-ups (regardless of conference). I enjoy every season.
Good for you. I bet its crazy week in and week out going thru that ACC schedule.
I personally would rather lose a few and have games that are tough.
But i guess if we were in the ACC we could go for recores like 14 years in the top 5. It would be doable in the ACC. Not the SEC.
You can see it even over the last two years. A good but not great FSU team with a big winning streak in conference. Then the get in a real game at the end of the season and Wow. Not quite a ACC matchup. And now hopefully Uf is back on the rise to be another good matchup.

Only little brothers would argue that one or two game seasons are just as good if not better than 9,10, or 11 game seasons.
