Top 25 ranking....

Doesn't mean anything....just keep getting better, and the rest takes care of itself

It really depends. Not that many 4-0 teams left in the country at this point, and a LOT of teams in the high teens lost today as well. Honestly with as little respect as we've gotten over the past weeks in the polls, most will take away that we needed a come from behind last second win against a bad 2-2 UT team.

We haven't shown enough to get ranked. We've just beat up 2 crappy teams, limped past UK, and out athleted ECU. UK did beat Missou, but none of these 4 wins were over quality opponents, especially as NMSU was the only really SOLID win that we've gotten so far. We're limping past mediocre and bad teams that we should be putting away in the 1st and 2nd quarters.

I'd say Tennessee and Kentucky were both better wins than NMSU. SMH

Taking homer glasses off, I believe we should be ranked. Some of our wins don't look that impressive on the surface until you examine them a bit closer. Remember we're breaking in a new system and players all over the place. Hell we're playing as many as three true freshmen on the o-line for example.

We've beat a decent ECU team who just beat VT. We've beat 3-1 UK on the road with injuries all over the place. And we've just beat a UT team with a ton of players missing. And if we're being honest, UT should be 3-1 right now. We definitely aren't a top 15 team or anything, but we're undefeated and I doubt any teams in the back half of the top 25 has a more impressive resume.

Well I will now point this out, after looking at the numbers... Missouri at 25 lost today to UK. BYU was 22 and MU crushed them today 31-0. Duke beat Georgia Tech who was ranked 20 today. That's 3 teams in the last 5 spots alone of the top 25 who lost today and are guaranteed to be out on the next poll. So there is shakeup and there is room to move in. Anything can happen.

I'm more concerned with the fact that I don't think Ole Piss is a guaranteed loss right now after what Vandy did to them today. We can beat that team.

Another thing to note, after today is done, we're 1/3 of the way through the season, and only 5 teams remain undefeated in The SEC, us included. Florida, georgia, LSU, ATM, and Ole Miss. We're the only one of the 5 not ranked.

If our defense plays up to their full potential, then Ole Miss is definitely beatable. That's the only way I see us beating them is squeaking out a 14-17 type game, because I doubt we move the ball on that defense much.

Yea teams ranked in the 20's went down today so we might sneak in there, and they love ranking teams for big games coming up like we do with highly ranked Ole Miss next week with a night time kick off

Yesterday was the first day in a long long time that I have been so happy after a Gator win. I couldn't sleep last night. I'm still enjoying it. It has been so long I forgot how much I missed it.

I'm not sure there are any dominant teams out there right now. Every team appears to have their issues.
We will be ranked and it will make for a huge game in the Swamp this coming Saturday.

Yes there were teams in high teens and 20s who lost, but how many of the "other receiving votes" who had more votes than us also won yesterday?

But ours was on national TV with millions (including voters) watching all the way to the end. Shouldn't necessarily matter, but it does.

I'm thinking on the edge of top 25. Not sure we are there yet. Let's see if we can improve against Ole Miss. If we can get to 8-4 this year then the season will be a success in my opinion.

Oregon who was around 15th or so got hammered so with 2 losses they drop out. UF will be one of the first couple of teams out of Top 25 but take care of biz next week and ranking will come.

I'd rather be ranked after playing Jawja than after playing tennis-sea.

However, while we were beating tennis-sea, ECU was again beating VT and UK was beating Mizzou, so we might be on the way. Going in the correct direction for now anyway.

Disagree, tell me who is behind us that should be ranked ahead of us?

I don't worry about that. All I know is we were unranked and had three close games with unranked teams. I like the progress, I want it to continue, but I haven't seen anything that says top 25 yet. I hope I do this Saturday. Ole Miss has pissed in our cornflakes often enough, wouldn't mind returning the favor.

Nobody here is saying we look like a great team at the moment. But my original point still stands. Who is behind us that you would rank in front of UF at the moment? ?

It's just the top 25. Based on what I have seen so far there doesn't appear to be any dominant teams at the moment. It's called parity.

Rankings smakings,,,, take a look at this for a comparison of undeserved rankings.

ND's Last mythical NC was 1988.
ND's Last shot at a BCS-NC was UA 42 - 14 ND.

2015 #6 ND is 4-0 over their usual slate of cupcakes:

ND 38 - 3 over 1-3 Texas who's only win is over Rice.

ND 34 - 27 for a +7 over unranked 1-3 Va. who's only win is over William & Mary.

ND 30 - 22 over 2-2 GaTech who just got schooled by Dukie. their only wins are over AlcornSt & Tulane.

ND 62 - 27 +35 over Mighty 0-3 U-Mass who also lost by 34 pts to unranked Colo.
===================

#12 Clemp's-son is 3-0 over 3 bad/weak teams.

Clemp's-son 49 - 10 Wofford D2 - why bother

Clemp's-son 41 - 10 AppSt - 2-1 with 2 big wins over D2's

Clemp's-son 20 - 17 @ UL - 1-3 with only win over D2 Samford
===================

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ for the battle between the over-rated undefeated's....

That's it...and right now we are just too young and inconsistent. We have played very well but IMO we drop this game. Their depth and all round better developed team takes it to us. We can't afford almost any mistakes if we are too win.

Right now Gators are getting 6.5 points...maybe I'm giving Ole Miss too much respect...but I was thinking that that it would be larger than that. I know that Vandy played Ole Miss tough last week but we'll have to see.

I knew that line would be right there, the home field advantage will be big with our momentum and playing on house money. We have literally zero pressure and they have all of it after beating Bama on the road in this same situation.

But why does it matter? If we win, our rank will increase, but if we lose, then we go back to unranked.....I still say rankings are not of much importance at the moment.

I agree. Rankings are currently based on a very limited sampling. Still a lot of impact from pre-season presumptions. That said, being ranked is a great thing for the Gators. That's what a 4-0 start will do for ya! Congrats.

Thanks, but the last thing I want to see is Gators yelling "We Back!"

The rankings will shake out later in the year. They don't mean too much right now. I don't buy the TCU train or ND just yet.

TCU was legit, before all the injuries. They've now lost something like 7 starters off their defense to injury and now can't stop anybody. That is gonna get them beat at least once, likely twice. Wouldn't be shocked if Texas upsets them.
