It just doesn't have that "WOW" factor to it IMO.

A 57-36 record. Has coached 3 seasons and 1 of those was a losing record season. Has coached ONE NCAA tournament game ever. Best place he ever got in his conference was a 4th place finish.

That resume looks much weaker than Mike White's.

Golden probably has his attention focused on keeping Gatkek. Doesn't have enough time to court the signees.

Lol…Golden is kinda like Mike White…just without any kind of success at all…

Just about anybody right now is better than Mike White. Not to say that White is bad but the program wasn’t going anywhere with him as the coach.
You hit the reset button and see if this guy can do anything. If not then you let him go a few years down the road. Unfortunately IMO we already have held onto White too long.

Based on several phone calls this afternoon I put in a Rivals FutureCast pick for Malik Reneau to Miami.

I was impressed with Golden’s PC but we will see how well he does when it really matters. Sounds like we are actually going to recruit some shooters now as opposed to what we have been seeing the last several years.

He's giving Golden the A+ grade because he wanted him at Mizzou. Maybe he sees something in Golden we don't. White won't work out in Athens because he's already proven he can't land the 5-star talent in his camp. LSU has the guy I wanted in McMahon, but sanctions will kick their asses if implemented. The Chickens seemed kind of lazy and disorganized in their search, especially when a coach like Sean Miller whiffs on them.

Surprised I never commented in this thread. If I remember right I was just happy White was gone and said we will see on Golden. We seem to have been much more positive and neutral overall to the hire than other sites who were pretty mad we didn't get a big name

McMahon just finished his 3rd season but has struggled. If LSU has any patience with McMahon, I believe he's still the coach to help that program recover.
 
I don't know squat about Todd personally. That said, he just feels 'greasy' (figuratively) to me, much like 2x NC Urban Meyer.
I'd be just fine with being incorrect in my 'feelings' on the issue, IF that's how it turns out over time...

Was it the coaching/system, of just hitting the preverbal jackpot on that particular line up of players (TEAM).
That we'll all just have to wait and see on, maybe finding out as quick as the coming season.

As to who goes and who stays, there will always be the 2 main categories of student/athletes.
Those who came for the college experience and a degree, and those that are only interested in playing their game, whichever one it it.
STUDENT/athlete ----- OR ----- student/ATHLETE....

Pretty sure you are totally wrong about Golden's character, as I stated before when you brought this up. I've been told by a couple of people who were closely involved in his hiring and the situation around the unfounded, false accusations made against him that he is a high quality invidual dedicated to his family and his players. There were evil reasons why some people tried to take him down and get him out of Gainesville, but they were based on lies that quickly became known to all authorities involved in the situation from the very beginning. That's why these perpetrators went to the sleazy Alligator, so they would publish the lies in hopes that the accusations themselves would be enough to turn the University and Gator nation against him. Fake News, my man, and it didn''t work - even in liberal Gainesville, because the lies were so outlandish and easily proven wrong.
On the coaching side of things, he built the team his way with his kids into a national champion in 3 years. Pretty impressive. Can he sustain a high level of success? Only time will tell.

Sorry you fell for the rag student paper's publishing and pushing of unverified claims (sh*t journalism) that apparently couldn't be found by the investigators either. About like claims from many in the media with an agenda.

Imo the main factor was Golden seems to have a knack for getting players for good NIL value and making a real good team out of them. He also has very good in game skills apparently with all of the late game wins we had. The exact opposite of Leghumper Magic Mike White who was the master of slowing things down to let opposing teams in pretty big deficits come back late and win the game.

The accusers can't even produce any images of what they claimed was sent to them. Unlike in Tallahassee, title IV investigations aren't swept under the rug in Gainesville.
