TikTok is shut down...

I actually really like the UI experience of TikTok, but am concerned about data and profiling from the CCP.

Rand Paul makes interesting arguments for TikTok.

Let's see what happens. A lot of young people would love Trump for preserving TT.

Can American ingenuity not come up with a platform to provide what a Chinese company is providing? Apparently so. That's sad in itself.

Our Constitution is working exactly how it is supposed to...I wish Trump would leave this alone. China under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should be allowed to control ANY social media platform used in America. Allowing them to do so is just plain STOOPID!

Trump needs to make sure whatever he does is legal as this ban was enacted by congress and upheld by SCOTUS.

I agree 100%

I don't use TikTok but the app will be back tomorrow. And it will eventually have some American ownership.

The excuses that it's a security threat because they collect data makes no sense. All the data they need is walking around in everyone's pocket every day. If you have a cell phone it was made in China. And there's already been one company caught selling your data.

Now that tik tok is shut down, we only have the government, FBI, pentagon, apple, google, facebook and Samsung to stalk us. It’s a dark day.

Tiktok is back. But you're 100% correct people are worried about TikTok as they put all their information and data in their Iphones.

You're ok with it?
Trump did exactly what he said he was going to do.

President Joe Biden had said he would leave the issue to his successor, Donald Trump. The president-elect has said he will "most likely" give TikTok a 90-day reprieve from a ban once he takes office on Monday.

That's not what's allowed in the law per Tom Cotton...

Your analysis doesn't make sense.

Perfect. It's very simple any data being collected on that app has already been sold or will be sold.

Now if your argument is it's a dumb app because who wants to watch people dancing. We agree.

What's disturbing is that he had the correct answer and he flipped to the wrong one. Musk influence? I don't know.....but TikTok itself hasn't changed.
He made it clear he wanted the young people vote. And tiktok helped with that so he said he would try and save it. And he is, but I'm guessing Amazon ends up with it.

So your saying the reason he started supporting it was to get votes, despite his belief that is it bad for America?

He plainly said why he was trying to save it. (With conditions of course)

imo the only thing tiktok is bad for is kids watching stupid videos.

This is not a good situation with the only good solution being one that apparently will not happen which is to have China sell 100% of it to an American interest. China does not want to do that. That tells you a lot of what China doesn't want to give up (data mining). So neither of the 2 alternatives are good. If the ban is left in place, literally half the country is unhappy including lots of small businesses. If the ban is overridden, that is clearly against the law.

The iPhone in everyone's pocket has been doing it for years. Same for the Samsung in mine,
I don't use either but I'm sure it doesn't really matter who the manufacturer of the phone is.

I was referring to Youtube, X, facebook, etc., as they all have stupid and ridiculous videos for our younger generation (and even some of the adults) to be entertained by.
