We all know this season's team is a disaster. An absolute train wreck.

But the uncomfortable reality is that 2 generational players and a couple late season runs are really glossing over some bad realities of how this team has performed of late. Let's look at the last 5 full seasons, throwing out the aborted 2020 season and this current one.

2024 --> 36-30
2023 --> 54-17
2022 --> 42-24
2021 --> 38-22
2019 --> 34-26

One really good season. The rest is meh. One season where we looked great all year. 3 mediocre seasons ended in the regionals. One mediocre (rough?) season with a miraculous CWS run.

But the SEC record is the most alarming.

2024 --> 13-17
2023 --> 20-10
2022 --> 15-15
2021 --> 17-13
2019 --> 13-17

6 games over .500 in 5 seasons is the definition of mediocre. Did you guys realize how bad it has been in the SEC? You add in our current 0-8 record, and we are under .500 over the past 6 seasons.

That 2023 season was fantastic. That 2024 run was great. But I think we're losing track of how mid this program is right now. Something needs to change, and I'm not sure what it is. But the uncomfortable conversations need to happen.
