The rumors of the demise of the SEC seems to be greatly exaggerated.

At least as it pertains to SOS. Of course, the caveat here is that the metrics on the actual schedule can probably change a bit during the season.

Ohio State is now 1-9 against SEC teams, and their fans have done nothing but talk about how they can now go unbeaten in SEC play. The Media is getting away with it

Who knows what the Buckeyes would do? We can look at what recent additions have accomplished. Missouri has been in the SEC three seasons. They've been to the conference championship game the last two. I think Urban's Ohio State program is a bit better than Mizzou...just sayin. Before anyone starts claiming Missouri as a powerhouse before they got to the SEC...they had 5 conference losses in their last season in the Big 12. Point being...an OOC addition has shown they can compete at the SEC's top level.

Doesn't mean Ohio State would win all their games...but they'd be the biggest game on any SEC team's schedule this season.

Over the last 2 years the rest of the country has caught up to the SEC. Now the question will be does it stay that way, or will the SEC do something to try and regain it's status as top conference. Personally, I like the balance. Makes CFB better.

ohio state would never go through a season with less than 2-3 losses. How many times did Meyer do it WITH an SEC team? With those boys it would be hilarious

Missouri the past two seasons had one SEC loss going in to the title game. Missouri pulls better talent than OSU? Whatevs.

What if they had UT's schedule in the East or God Forbid were in the West?

I wouldn't state that "the rest of the country" Pac 12 is much stronger...outside of that there have always been other teams in conferences that are just as good as the best SEC teams but top to bottom the 'rest of the country' hasn't caught up...also the east is just weak...it is what it is right now and we should be happy that we aren't in the west right now or we would be a 5 win team. In the 90's the East was the powerhouse.

Outside of last year's bowl record for the SEC all you have to do is look back 10 years of wins vs losses in bowl games to see this has no merit. Missouri is the benefit of a darn good ball coach that Florida would have hired if had the option, along with a down eastern conference, which looks to be on the rise at the moment. Once Florida locks up 4 and 5 star recuits from in state these conversations will have a different tone. Sorry Urban, you will have competition for Florida recruits prolly after this year, my guess. Forced reduction in scolarships have been other conferences only hope in balancing the powers.

“Every now and then when I listen in to your show, I know the SEC fans are a little upset at Ohio State's schedule and rightfully so to tell you the truth,” Spurrier said to Finebaum.

Not the "rest of the country" a few teams such as Ohio St, Oregon and FSU have, that's about it so far. Not Baylor and TCU yet, they have to prove they can sustain it

No argument here. The SEC is still the best conference, but I do believe the PAC12 is a close second. There are a handful of teams that could do well in the SEC like you mention above.

Parity has certainly played a role in college football and it seems every program is investing in their facilities, coaching.....
QB play (or lack thereof) is a concern in the SEC. There are several teams without a good/great QB at this time that may hurt the league especially come the playoff time.

I agree 100%. The more an more time goes on, I wonder if conferences are even necessary.

In 2014, the SEC put 12 of it's 14 teams into Bowl Games.
(UK missed a bowl by 1 game going 5-7)

SEC-W - Went 2-5 in their bowls, with 2 losses in bowl mis-matches.
Both wins were against evenly matched teams, with one 4 pt loss to an equal W/L team.

12-2 UA - Lost @ Ms by 6 pts, lost to 14-1 NC tOSU by 7 pts in Sugar Bowl.
(tOSU beat 13-2 Oregon 42 - 20 for the NC) <<<<<

10-3 MsSt - Lost to 11-3 GaTech in Orange Bowl by 15 pts.
9-4 Ole Miss - Lost to 12-1 TCU in Peach Bowl, blow-out by 39 pts.
8-5 AU - Lost to 11-3 Wis in the Outback Bowl by 3 pts.

8-5 LSU - Lost to 8-5 ND in Music City Bowl by 4 pts.
8-5 aTm - Beat 7-6 WVa in Liberty Bowl by 8 pts.
7-6 Ark - Beat 6-7 TX in Texas Bowl, blow-out by 24 pts.
---------------

SEC-E - Went 5-0 UNDEFEATED in their bowls:

11-3 Mizz - Beat 8-5 Minn by 16 pts in Citrus Bowl, (the only W/L mis-match).
10-3 UGA - Beat 9-4 UL by 23 pts in Belk Bowl.
7-5 UF - Beat 8-5 ECa by 8 pts in Birmingham Bowl.
(UF was 8-5 without a rainout & had 3 losses by 5 pts (3-3-5) or less.
7-6 SCa - Beat 6-7 Miami by 3 pts in Independence Bowl.
7-6 Tn - Beat 7-6 Iowa by 17 pts in Tax Slayer Bowl.

So the supposedly weak and failing SEC put 12 teams in bowls and still went 7-5 in them. In their 5 losses, 3 were by an average of less than 5 pts, (14/3).

Now, list all of the other conferences that have ever put 12 teams in Bowls in a single season....
How about the other conferences with 7 Bowl Winners in a single season?

IMOHO - The SEC's demise has been greatly over-stated.... o_O
