So, we have seven more game left. Four on the road.

We go to; UGA, USCe, LSU and Mizzou

We can win two. We really should win three.

At home we have; Alabama, Vandy and UK.

We can win two. We should win all three.

So, if we go 4-3, we are probably a seven seed. At best. Even if we win one or two SEC-T games

If we go 5-2, we are probably a six seed, maybe a 5 or 4 seed if we win two SEC-T games.

If we go 6-1, we are anywhere between a 4 and 2 seed. Assuming we win two SEC-T games

We win out, including the SEC-T Championship? We might be a 2 seed.

I am expecting a 4-3. I hope for 5-2.

We need to beat Bama, UGA and VAndy for sure, Mizzou and UK and LSU could all be winnable... @USC is a toss up as well but we usually play well against them even though they are better than usual. Too bad we still don't have Frazier the gamecock killer to go on that road trip...

Nothing is certain with this team. Very inconsistent, yet understandibly so. They seem to be a different team at home, and they are not as bad as their worst losses indicate.

If they get into the tournament in White's first year, that is a major win, regardless of seed. You can't ask
for anything more than that.

I think we go 4-3 and get into the tournament as a 8-10 seed. We are very inconsistent. We can be very good and we can be very bad.

I agree. I expect 4-3 and a game or two in the tournament. We have good enough athletes, that we could win the tournament, if we're hitting shots. I'd be happy with a NCAA tourney appearance. I think we could easily win two or three games in the NCAA tournament. There's no difference in the top 15 teams, and not that much difference in the top 25.

We only lose DFS this year, right? I'm assuming we don't have any early entrants. Could have an SEC contender again next year. Hope White is able to pick it up in recruiting.

Definitely. Everybody back except DFS, who's obviously a huge loss. The only guy I could see going early would be Egbunu. An Allen and Egbunu driven team with pretty solid athletes all around them would be a pretty good start. I agree on recruiting. I hope to see a little of Billy D's early recruiting magic from White. There are more players in Florida than when Billy was starting out.

Just looked at our 2017 commit, Shai Alexander, and 247 has him at #59 nationally. Rivals still hasn't rated him yet. Between he and Hester, White's recruiting thus far might not be so underwhelming.

Also I believe Keith Stone, a 4-star small forward from 2015, redshirted, so definitely a solid start to the 2016 incoming class. He kept Kevaughn Allen after Billy left, which I'm sure wasn't easy. And Hayes looks like a useful big body. So, I have to say, so far so good!

We will probably end up playing UNC or something in the 2nd round, we are always much better as underdogs with no expectations.. I think we will get in unless we drop a few at home. Bama just beat A&M and that's a MUST win IMO...

4-3 down the stretch probably gets us a 7 seed. Our SOS is strong as is our BPI and RPI. 3-4 and we are looking at the dreaded 8/9 seed.

Not gonna lie.

The last two years of basketball have been quite relaxing for me.

Sooooooo many less threads.

That's what I was saying, we might even end up playing our old coach against OU.

Man, this really put a huge dent in our tourney chances. We now need to pick off one of the road games to get back in. We are looking at 2-5 down the stretch and a trip to the NIT if we can't get a road win.

I think (hope) we can win @ UGA and @ Missouri. We should win at home against Vandy. USCe is not really that good, but we shall see. It will depend on which UK team shows up

Why woud anyone want to see that in the tournament lol? much less for another 5 seconds the rest of the year

That game ended the season for sure, time to move onto another sport.

Baseball starts Friday, Softball started this past weekend where the ladies went 4-0. I will watch the NCAA tournament because it's one of the best sporting events of the year. But let's remember, the Gators were a pre-season pick to make the tournament and now it's looking like that might not happen. 4 out of our last 6 on the road, with KY & Vandy at home. I'm thinking we'll go 2-4 and finish the regular season at 18-13. Unless we get to the finals of the SEC tournament I don;t think that record gets us in. And if we don't make it, we've underachieved in Mike White's first year. I like the guy and hope like hell he succeeds, but this team should be much more consistent than it has been. The West Virgina game shows how good they can be, so why can't he get them to compete near that level every game? Not the lights out shooting, but the all out effort on both ends of the floor from everybody on the team.

We were? I don't think anyone could've reasonably expected more than what Coach White has done.

This projection (not sure if it was an outlier or representative) had us at 8th in the SEC, which almost certainly wouldn't be a tournament team.

I just expect even if this team makes the tournament there will be nothing to predict, either they could beat a one seed or lose the first round game by 15.

Good post....however, everything I saw had us middle of the pack in the SEC.

Here's a link to bracket projections for this season from November 4, 2015. Florida projected as 1 of 5 SEC teams getting in. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...n-of-the-2016-ncaa-tournament-bracket/page/10

Here is Joe Lunardi's pre-season brackets from December 8, 2015, showing Florida as a #10 seed.

I say again - If the Gators don't make the tournament, they will have underachieved IMO. Everybody is, of course, entitled to their opinion. But at least 2 experts in the field thought the Gators had enough talent, even with a new coach, to get in. And with SMU & Louisville now not eligible, it should be easier to get in than when the season began.

After the last game I just don't see how anyone cares that much whether this team makes the tournament, it's like the 16 seeds getting amped over getting in during the selection show. Why lol

Man, was I way too optimistic.

Man, was I way too optimistic.

That's alright, I keep going back to 2 thoughts:

1. Last year's team had a losing record, with Billy D as head coach.
2. Life is too short to be pessimistic about college sports. If they let you down, they're just kids. If they don't, awesome.

There's no excuse to look as bad as they have the last two home games. They just aren't any good and don't deserve to be in any post season play, when you are being carried by a freshmen and are getting worse all around with the upper classmen there's no reason to care much. I've been one of those Gator fans that follows basketball as much as football over the years and I just haven't been able to get into it this year or really take that bad of play seriously...
