The one thing I like about Desantis the most

You’ve seen across the country a wave of woke prosecutors funded by out of state interests refusing to uphold the rule of law who are allowing criminals to walk free without ever facing consequences for their crimes. As Governor, I have made it clear: In this state, we uphold the rule of law. We respect the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe.

We DO NOT allow woke activist prosecutors to abdicate their duty to do their job and protect their communities. This is why I took action to right the wrongs of a prosecutor whose conduct has fallen below the standard that is required by the Florida Constitution by refusing to enforce laws he doesn’t like. A prosecutor is not a law unto himself.

UPHOLD THE RULE OF LAW >>>

We are not going to allow this pathogen of ignoring the law that's been going on around the country to get a foothold in the state of Florida. We are going to make sure that our laws are enforced and that no individual prosecutor puts themselves above the law.

It’s simple. If you put yourself above the law, you are violating and neglecting your duty and you are displaying a lack of competence to be able to perform those duties. If you abandon the duties of your oath of office, you no longer have the right to hold that office.

The crime in places like San Francisco and Los Angeles are out of control. Police are unable to do their jobs, businesses are closing up shop, and violent criminals are walking free all because of the dereliction of duty by prosecutors who are funded by ideological activists. In Florida, we’re not going to sit idly by and watch our state spiral into chaos. We’re going to respect our law enforcement officers, we’re going to protect our citizens, and we’re going to enforce the law.

As your Governor, I will not stand for woke prosecutors, who are entrusted with enforcing the law, showing more deference and care for criminals than the victims of their crimes in the name of “social justice.” Denying a victim their day in court is not justice. Allowing a criminal to walk free of consequence for their crimes is not justice. It is, in fact, the opposite of justice.

REJECT WOKE PROSECUTORS >>>

Florida is a law-and-order state. I am not going to back down from that one inch. The radical Left is already attacking me for doing my job to ensure that the laws are enforced in our state. They are going to use my suspension of a state attorney refusing to do his job to appeal to the members of the woke mob and add to their war chest.

Like I’ve said before, I will never allow political favor to sway my resolve to do what’s right.

IRS agents are law enforcemtn officers too, do we support them or do we want to defund them as well??? this is all so confusing!!!!

In fairness, if you went to a flat tax or a simple sales tax only system, one would not need the IRS nor those agents. I'm not saying that it's a good idea (I honestly have no idea) but it's possible.

Comparatively, you can't very well cancel street crime, espionage or terrorism so it would be much more difficult to cancel local police, Sheriff's Departments, State Police or the FBI/DEA/ATF.

really? so if we went to a flat speed limit we wouldnt need cops? people will cheat, thats what people do. and i am not a proponent of either scheme you mention.

If you went to a flat tax (change the tax laws) you would still need IRS agents when someone didn't pay

If you change the laws (decriminalize) then you could get rid of the need for a lot of law enforcement

Yes...because cops only manage traffic speed.

FTR, I've written exactly 2 speeding tickets in my entire career. 😂

I know a few things but one subject that I've never really delved into is flat tax/sales tax vs our current system of taxation. So I have no idea.

On this, it seems to me that you could certainly get by with fewer agents if you simplified to a flat tax or sales tax only system.
yes, if you simplified the real crooked parts of the code, but thats never going to happen, the crooked part is where the real money is shielded.

Like decriminalizing theft, murder, rape, assault...things like that?

Because if you decriminilize drugs, specifically harder drugs, you'll have an uptick of these types of crimes. People do the things I listed above in furtherance of their addictions or due to their psychosis brought on by their addictions.

Stay in your lane. This wasn't the opening of a debate...it was a lesson. That lesson is now over.

I was just saying it was possible.

It was a silly debate on how defunding the IRS was doable as compared to defunding the actual police.

And yes, those last 3 words were tongue in cheek...sort of.

youre a real cop not a tax collector.

I like to think so. Sheriff's Departments should be focused on preventing or solving felonies imho. There are times when we have to do other things but that is absolutely my departments focus.

We are also constitutionally required to do certain other things like serve papers...but thankfully we have a specific group in our department that focuses on that.

Countries have decriminalized drugs and NOT experienced your outcome

But I guess when there's data that would put your job at risk its better to act like that data doesn't exist

Who knows if we get rid of you as a cop maybe you can apply to become a Florida teacher and get the "one time bonus"... 🤣

DRUG DECRIMINALISATION IN PORTUGAL: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT.

13TH MAY 2021

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Drug-related deaths have remained below the EU average since 2001
  • The proportion of prisoners sentenced for drugs has fallen from 40% to 15%
  • Rates of drug use have remained consistently below the EU average

my issue with cops comes mostly from the tax collectors.

There's some of that...but not nearly as much as people like to say. At least not in my neck of the woods.

For example, the local municipal police that I most often work near...they receive approximately $4 for a $150 ticket. The state gets the rest. Yes, that's taxation for the state but the city cop isn't writing tickets so that the state can collect revenue.

You read stuff somewhere. You have zero practical knowledge.

Have you ever looked a freaked out methhead in the eye? Have you ever seen how they treat their kids, their families, their elderly parents?

Have you ever seen a guy so strung out on water that he shot his mom and his brother because he "knew" they weren't his mom and brother, because they were abducted by the government and aliens?

Have you ever met a child that was sold for sex by her mother or father so that they could buy drugs?

Have you ever seen a junkie with gangrene near their preferred injection site?

Have you ever worked a crime scene where 7 people were shot and killed by their rival drug dealers or the 2 others who were shot because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Have you ever seen what a machete will do to the human body...especially when wielded by a man freaking out on spice?

Have you ever seen a dead eldery man with a claw hammer stuck in his scalp that was placed there by his meth head son because dad wouldn't give him more money?

The amount of sh1t you don't know is beyond your comprehension. These are just a few examples, and i have more, from a single cop that took a moment to TRY and educate you. Even though he knows he just wasted his time.

Don't worry, we've got this. If you have anything at all to say to people like me it should be thank you.

yes and who gets the money.

Tough for me to say that a local PD, or the officer, are writing tickets so that the state government can collect taxes.

IMHO the city and the officer are attempting to enforce law and order. Without them your roads would be even more hazardous.

Now there was a local PD about 150 miles from me that was doing exactly what you're saying. That PD was actually defunded and is no longer a PD.

the money goes tot he state, just like it does when the irs takes your money or the franchise tax board of california. Tax collectors. highway patrol cops hiding in the bushes as youre driving to the mosque on sunday mornings, whatever, they are a menace to freedom loving americans.

If a guy passes you at 100mph and crashes into your neighbor killing him, and that SOB is always hauling a$$ on that road, I bet you're wondering why the po-po didn't slow his a$$ down or take him to jail.

That's all I'm saying. That and tickets aren't the money making scheme for the PD like many believe.

Why don’t I feel free? Gov. DeSantis stopping many of us from saying what we think.

6qqwpu.jpg

So, this is the “freedom state.” Somehow, I must have missed the memo. I do not feel free when many of us are unable to say what we think and do what we believe is right.

This is the (a) "don’t say gay" state; (b) don’t wear a mask and intimidate those who do state; (c) don’t go to rallies state, because you will be threatened by those who do not like the truth — in fact, you might get run over; (d) intimidate teachers in public schools state, because Moms for Liberty says they are “grooming” the children to be gay; (e) don’t get vaccinated state, wait until you are sick and use Regeneron, because Gov. Ron DeSantis’ donor has a financial interest in the company; and (f) don't believe in climate change state, as DeSantis claimed climate change is “left-wing stuff.”

DeSantis and his GOP lemmings make up all kinds of ridiculous stories about the left because, as we’ve seen with Donald Trump’s big lies, the bigger the lie and the more you say it, the more gullible people will believe it. Add in Steve Bannon and Alex Jones, and you have a trifecta of insanity.

As I’ve said before — and proudly — I am “woke,” meaning I am “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).” And I am a liberal, which means I am tolerant, unprejudiced, open-minded and freethinking. I wear those labels proudly. If you are none of these, you might want to question what you do stand for.

I know from his actions where DeSantis stands — after the slaughter of young children in Uvalde, Texas, and ordinary folks like you and me who were shopping for groceries in Buffalo, New York, he said nary a word. Any words of sympathy or empathy from DeSantis? Heck, no. He is busy flying all over the country campaigning for the crazies who believe the big lie.

What I want to share is that DeSantis is a graduate of Harvard Law School and served in the Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps. This suggests to me he is familiar with the Constitution of the United States and the rule of law. So, explain to me why many of the laws he signed are patently in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

This is the same behavior we viewed for four years by Trump. They both seem to think the Constitution is suggestive only — not the law of the land.

DeSantis is against diversity training because he is afraid people might become woke or even racially tolerant. When I worked in a county attorney’s office, we had diversity training every year — all of the government employees did. What I noticed was that the calendars with scantily dressed women disappeared from traffic engineering! So much for brainwashing.

Further, I am extremely concerned with the level of fascism that is running rampant in this country at the highest levels of government. Fascism is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as a “political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.”

Sound familiar? It should, because this is what Trump and DeSantis want as well as the extremely right-wing GOP legislatures across the country who approved draconian bills negatively affecting the right to vote and even allowing them to throw out election results.

Unfortunately, I no longer feel safe in Florida, nor do I want my children or grandchildren to feel threatened. Because of DeSantis, the history books will be white-washed, and we definitely must beware of DeSantis’ election police and his citizen army.

It is time to stop wasting taxpayer money on defending blatantly unconstitutional and draconian laws. We, the people, are sick of funding the arrogance of the governor and the Legislature. Why do they do it? Using the words of a Florida legislator, “Because we can.” Let’s stop this here and now!
