New Story The One That Got Away:

Lamar Jackson with his Gator backpack on signing day, what could have been.
Miss the old national signing day as well. Times have changed.

So many but to pick only one it’s Derrick Henry, except that Muschamp who was a blind squirrel when it comes to offense would have made him into an undersized rush end. Ah, but what might have been with that guy in our backfield. He would have made Jeff Driskel look good. Maybe.

Players for me since 2000.

Meyer era - CJ Spiller; No Coaches
WMusch - Derek Henry as a RB; Lane Kiffen(OC)/Tosh Lupoi
Jimmy Mc - Will Greer and his last recruit class Matty C/Jamar Chase; Coaches a quality OC.
Mullen - Justin Fields, Leatherwood; Coaches a quality DC
CBN - the two Oline at Miami and Xavier F: Coaches Koletecki(Sp?) an OC, OL coach and DC.

I always thought if Driskel was paired with Mullen he would have had a hole different outcome to his career.

You nailed most of them. For Mac, I’d say Lamar Jackson. He nearly got him. Had he landed Jackson, he might still be coaching Florida. I’d prefer Dalvin Cook over Henry personally. Just think he’s a better fit for Florida offensive style.

Fields was Mac. Fields had already committed to Georgia when Mullen was hired. Mac took Corral because he didn’t want to wait on Fields.

The One That Got Away:

It is Friday, and I want to have a little fun. My question to you is, No 1. Name one recruit who got away and that you wanted to end up at Florida more than any other recruit. Or, it could have been a coach that you wanted UF to hire, but they went another direction. No 2. This is the opposite of the one who got away, but I know we have some big-time fishermen on the board, so I need to see pictures of the biggest fish you ever caught. No pics, no bueno.

YES, let's just think what unfolds if Mullen stays put in 2009: Our offense doesn't suck, the team stays focused and beats Saban and the Longhorns, Jaguars or some other NFL team steals Urban and Mullen gets promoted. In 2012, Mullen wins a NC, nabs Cook and keeps FSu from their tainted 2013 title before the wheels start falling off from Mullen recruiting and he is fired in 2016 and we hire Kirby Smart.

My first thought is CJ Spiller. And he should definitely be on the list -- there are more jokes about him finally coming or transferring we were so infatuated with him even when he was at Clemson and wanted him to transfer. But if you think about it... ...Spiller is the one who lost out. He was in school from 2006 to 2009. The guy would be wearing 2 National Championship rings if he had come to UF.

On the coaching side - Bob Stoops the first time Urban quit, if I remember correctly there was a chance he might have come.

For some reason, I was sold on getting Stefon Diggs when Charlie Weis was here. But I knew that we fckd up by losing Ja'Marr Chase in that 2018 class.
Effing this^^^ Stefon Diggs and Jamar chase. Was torn between listing the two but my dude listed them for me

I thought we had Steffon Diggs in the bag and was pumped about it. Not as confident about Murray but man was he different. Really wanted him too.

Looking back at it, I would have loved Derrick Henry but having Kelvin Taylor softened the blow at the time.

By far the most costly recruit that ever “got away” was Dalvin Cook.

In his 3 games against us he ran for 480 yards..
2016: 153yds/1TD
2015: 183yds/2TD
2014: 144yds

Needless to say we also went 0-3 against him.
Yeah, but he played in one meaningful game (no acc game is meaningful) and he fumbled twice and cost them the game (The rose bowl humiliation against Oregon). Nothing he did after that matters at all. He wasted his college years at a third rate clown college in a town that smells like burned spaghetti-o’s and acted on the side of evil. So screw dalvin crook and screw f$u.
