No matter how much you spend on a team, it absolutely will not guarantee championships in a one game, winner takes all tournament format.

Look at Duke this year. With a generational talent, two more lottery picks, and two more likely NBA guys on their roster, (and reportedly spending between $12-20 million on said roster for just this season) they went home empty handed.

It's open season right now, and the best money making environment that players will probably ever have. Deep pockets are only so deep, though, and if you're one of these high level donors at Houston, Texas Tech, Duke, UK, etc., there's only so many years of you writing $1mm+ checks without a title before you walk away.

No matter how many wealthy boosters teams have, this money isn't an "investment" like a new stadium, practice facility, or building with your name on it. That money is gone that year, and only one team out of 368 brings home a trophy.

The real value will be in hiring and retaining coaches who can find players like Todd has done, while also having the coaching chops to develop them and build team chemistry each year. In my opinion, the best money we can spend is in retaining Todd.

As we all see, there's absolutely no school loyalty by players or coaches anymore, so if you've got a coach who has an eye for talent, finding players that "fit" his system, and at least a competitive NIL, (thanks to guys like @SRGators and @kcflagator as well as many of us on here talking about basketball who have given what they can) you're in a very good position in this new era.

Which I think we are. I hope to read about us locking up Todd in a long term contract sooner than later.
