Every person who is filling out a bracket this year is mulling over potential “Cinderella” teams. It looks like ESPN’s Jay Williams has found one already.

Williams is targeting Florida, the No. 10 seed in the West Region, as a possible bracket-buster. The Gators will take on seventh-seeded Nevada in the first round on Thursday.

Here’s what Williams had to say about Florida on SportsCenter earlier today, via 247 sports:

“I think Mike White’s team is … look, I just love their guard play,” Williams said. “They were one play away from taking Auburn to overtime in the SEC Tournament, potentially could’ve won that game and then played in the championship vs. Tennessee. When I think about Florida, I think about their guards and their guards can really defend — KeVaughn Allen, Jalen Hudson.

A Sweet 16 appearance would be a nice recovery after how the regular season went down. Even a single win in the tournament would erase some of the bad feelings about that. This Nevada team looks to be pretty tough however especially if that one player is back from injury.

Honestly, sadgator has no expectations. Just making it was pretty darn impressive and exciting. If they win a game, sadgator would be psyched for the seniors, and it would be great to see them have a crack against Mich...

They ARE battle-tested as stated in the other thread, but we’re probably too flawed and inconsistent to be a solid threat to anyone...

I think Nevada is a bad match up for us. They made it to the Sweet 16 last year and have a group of veteran players who are very long. Their coach is excellent as well. Their best player, Jordan Caroline, missed their conference tournament with an Achilles problem and if he isn't at full speed it could help us. But at 29-4 they probably were underseeded.

As for Nevada, they are a good team but I think they have been coasting for a while. 29-4 but 111 overall SOS. I would like to see us go out early and press and run. I'll bet we have more speed and athleticism than they have seen in a while. Might get in their heads a bit.

2 - 2 Seed Mich 28 - 6 (8 Big-Ten teams in Dance)
3- 3 Seed TTU 26 - 6 (knocked UF out in Rnd of 32 at Dallas last year)

Looks like a pretty rough row to hoe imoho...

It's good to just make the tourney. Win a game and it's great. Next season White will need to produce better results. We have great freshman and the incoming class is outstanding.

Any win is a bonus game for the underclassmen to get more experience. I've had this team written off about a dozen times it seems.
I will just sit back and enjoy the show as long as it goes on. Then wait for football season, because this year is going to be fun.

Agree with your comments about the basketball team. But I thoroughly enjoy watching Gator softball & baseball, plus the gymnastics team is making another run at SEC & NCAA titles. Lots to love about UF athletics.

We need this win for some momentum. Normally you want that Sweet 16 appearance to say it was a good season but a win over a 7 seed would at least be nice going forward with the younger guys on the team.
