Thanksgiving coldest on record in the NEast

@GhostOfMatchesMalone

Is this the crisis they need to alter (or suspend) the 2024 Elections?
I can't see that. If they tried to suspend the 2024 election due to a 'climate emergency', I think it would be instant Civil War.

My bet is still on letting Ukraine into NATO and that means we are automatically at war with Russia, can't have an election during war so let's suspend.

I agree on cancelling.

But give Biden emergency powers and I 100% could see "climate lockdowns" to reduce CO2 resulting in another massive mail-in ballot push.

"Voting is important but so is saving our planet, so I'm signing an executive order that will shut all in-person polling locations by Federal Mandate. This will save one-hundred trillion billion eighty-nine million carbon pounds, and ensure a future for all sniffables, I mean children."

- Joe Biden, probably soon

These little sissies do not understand why we are SO ADAMANT that we will never surrender ANY firearms to them. THEY are why we have them.

So this is a fantastic thread and all the partisans should re-read it from start to finish. It starts with Rs pointing to random weather events and cold temperatures as evidence that warming is a sham and the Ds admonishing them that it’s dumb to take single data points and drawing conclusions about shifts in GLOBAL weather and temp trends that have developed over BILLIONS of years. And five years later it’s D’s pointing to random hot temps and weather events and arguing the same thing.

Take this debate and multiply it by everything and that is the state of political debate under the two-party system.

I sort of thought the "it was cold here today" posts were more of a troll, screwing with the members of the church of climatology.

Either way, the position espoused in post 4 of this mammoth thread summed it all up imo. Everything else was egregious.

One polarized side says global warming is all man made, another side is none is man made and some say there is no warming. The truth is in the middle

1) amount of global warming by mankind is overstated by at least double. Solar factors account for the remainder

2) the use of carbon dioxide as the prime cause is faulty, the delta of radiation absorptivity based upon the delta of %mole increase in the air can’t justify what some scientist try to portray. In actuality, the use of energy and work in and of itself adds incredible amounts of heat into the atmosphere yearly. This is why the capture of carbon dioxide is a dangerous assumption to allow politicians to write into law.... anything that makes our thermal power cycles less efficient actually will increase overall unusable heat being tossed into the atmosphere

The only other thing that I would add to his position is that weather in one place tends to affect weather in another place and that this is a pattern and moreover a cycle, as it always has been. Dry weather here causes a deluge there, and vice-versa. It seems to be colder here and warmer there.

Add to that the phenomenon of the poles flipping and most of this makes sense...to me at least.

Ha!! I had post 4 nearly 5 years ago…. Too funny!

My father's best friend in college is still the smartest man I ever knew...especially from a scientific perspective. He rose up the ranks with NASA and was a part of some truly amazing breakthroughs.

He said "stuff" similar to what you said in post #4 (as best as I can tell, I'm not fluent in nerd).

He was eventually pushed out at NASA because he was unwilling to toe the line on man made climate change. "Trust the science"...especially after we've culled what the scientists are allowed to say.

In all seriousness, he was able (and was willing) to dumb this all down for me and explain it in ways that I could understand. Like I said, the man was brilliant but not a savant...he had actual social and communicative skills and that is rare.
