Sad story. USC is forcing him to take a leave of absence. Assistant coaches said he was drunk during the game yesterday and players smelled alcohol on his breath at team meetings this morning.

Apparently not taking a recent divorce very well. For his sake, I hope he can beat those demons.

Not a shocker. When he said he mixed alcohol with drugs I knew it was a problem. The main thing to get you that out of it would be mixing a pain med. with alcohol. Plus, to do it knowing you had an alumni/school event is beyond stupid. Now drinking early and before your job is really bad. He needs help now. I hope they allow him to get better and the worse thing would be to can him. That would be a divorce and no job. Think that might cause another relapse?

Besides heavy drugs like Heroin, alcohol is the biggest problem substance in the U.S. Hell make pot legal and outlaw alcohol. It won't happen but, it should. What would you rather face, a drunk or a stoner? Not many bad accidents on Pot. Well at 10 MPH maybe.

I hope all and everyone that faces this ILLNESS beats it. It is very sad.

What do you do as an AD in this situation? If you can him, it could easily start a relapse.

However do you keep him in the same capacity and allow him to be alone out recruiting in the home of 16-18 year olds? Could you honestly trust him doing such?


Hindsight: This may have never happened if he stayed at Washington. All he gained was a little more financial status.
USC was just as well off with Lane Kiffin. I never like defending such a douche but record wise, they are just the same. Publicity wise, they were better off with Lane.

Lane is in a perfect position. Best thing that happened to him was getting fired. He is better off not being responsible for the entire program. He is working with one of the best. He is laughing his azz off at Pat Haden right now.
