One explanation I heard was Manchin didn’t want the dems to be able to use the excuse “if we’d only been able to pass our ‘inflation reduction bill’” during the midterms.

I believe pharma is entitled to capture profits as a reward for their innovative R&D efforts. I work in the petroleum industry, so I’m not a pharma bro. (Especially after the Covid vaccine fiasco). That said, you seem to begrudge any company making profits. Why is that?

Final point… the U.S. pharmaceutical market is the key source of their profits. Take that away through lower prices and we risk stifling pharmaceutical innovation that has provided life saving and quality of life improving medicines.
