Pretty impressive that the SEC closed out the regular season with 8 teams in the top 25. We'll see how they do in the bowl games but that's a strong showing.

The SEC was by far the best conference in the country this year. It wasn’t even close. SEC is returning to its dominant ways again like when they won like 7 national titles in a row.

Not really. The SEC has been given rankings for yrs on end because they are the biggest "draw" and have the biggest contract. There are not 8 teams in the SEC that are top 25. I do think the sec was the best conference this yr tho

Meh. Its still just Bama. UGA has gotten close but one team still OWNS this conference. Until teams start putting 3 losses on bama, this is still the pac 12 when USC had reggie bush.

4 SEC teams in the top 10. 8 in the top 25. Find me a conference that has 4 top 10 caliber teams.

Yes Bama owns the conference. Guess what? Bama owns NCAA football. But Bama didn’t win the SEC in 2017 but won the national title. That just tells you how strong the conference is. They did that one other year as well.

I’m pretty sure the PAC-12 has never had 4 top 10 and 8 top 25 teams.

Whether it is good or bad it looks like the SEC is going to continue its dominance of college football. What other conference is even close?

The SEC already has very strong programs such as Bama, LSU, UF, UGA & Auburn and now it looks like Texas A&M is going to join the fray. That’s insane

I rustled the jimmies....perfect.

There is a HUGE SEC bias...they didnt win their conf and still got gifted the playoffs. #SECBias

It will be interesting to see if any other conference will ever dominate like the SEC. Yes the SEC has had a down year here or there but a down year for the SEC and it’s still in the discussion for best conference.

This past year it wasn’t even close. The SEC was ridiculously tough this year. And with the way the SEC recruits it is just insane.

Tops in CFP Top 25 ranking (8).
Tops by far in bowl teams (11).
Tops by far in recruit class rankings, (11 Top 25's)
The SEC teams got more 5 star recruits than all of the other Power-5 conferences COMBINED. o_O

Nothing ruffled here but your own Almost Competitive Conference panties.... :p

Maybe I miss counted...SEC has been pretty dominate this year though.

They might own the conference but from top to bottom no other conference is even close.

Might be bias but for a reason...honestly I didn't like that Bama got in last year...if you can't win your conference (if there are 4 teams) you don't get in IMO

The money, coaches and expectation at the schools are just much higher than the other conferences.

Again, the stated point of having the committee is to get the best 4 teams in.

Doesn't care about conference championships.

Ironically, the old BCS models still pick the same 4 teams (even last year.)

How can you determine the "best 4" when there are 130 teams and you only play 12 games? Thats less than 10%. Its all by conjecture and driven by m9ney and the SEC has the most money so they do get favored. The only possible way to find 4 of the best teams is to put them in co ferences and let them play. Think about this, Auburn was ahead of bama going inot the conference championship, they lose to the conf champion, bama sitting at home, licking sabans nuts, does nothing, literally nothing, then they get in. IMAGINE a UFC fight where 2 guys are in the cage fighting and one loses so the guy wo was not even in the fight, sitting ri gside, walks in and gets the belt put around his waste. I hate that UCF claims the title but i hate it more that bama was there in the first place.

Saying "the four best teams" is so subjective. Bama clearly was a top 4 team, but what if they lost 3 or 4 games last yr.. Should they still have been in? I think it should be 4 best who EARNED their spot. I dont think bama did anything to earn their spot. Auburn deserved it more imo.

There is an sec bias but there is even more of a bama bias

While you are certainly allowed your own opinion on it,,, you are clearly WRONG! :p
And it's actually 8 teams in the Top 23,,,

CFP Poll - Eight (8) total, with 4 of the Top 11)

1. UA - SEC-C -- UA 35 - 28 UGly (-7)
5. UGly - beat UF
10. UF - beat LSU
11. LSU - beat UGly
(when LSU beats pretender #8 UCF, they are in the Top 10)

How did Auburn deserve it more? Just because of 1 upset you want to throw the entire body of work out the window? I believe Auburn lost 3 games last year prior to the bowl game. How do they deserve to be in the playoff?

I thought we were supposed to take the entire body of work and the “eye test” when evaluating the 4 best teams for the playoff? Bama was certainly deserving of a playoff spot last year and then sure enough they won the 2 playoff games to show just how deserving they were.

Sure there is an SEC bias. There is an SEC bias for a reason though. It’s not that hard to figure out.

Just MOHO, but this year they put both neutered lame and choke-la-homa in due to TV revenue and politics, not because they are the 3rd and 4th best teams in college football for 2018... o_O

It's pretty easy to pick UA vs Clem's-son for the NC game playoff.

Who would you have put 3rd and 4th?

Without all the info that the committee uses, I'd still have taken UGly and the schmuckeyes, over neutered lame & the Chokers...

The same Yukieees who got beat by 25 by woeful Purdue and got pounded by Choklehoma at home the year before? The same yukeeeis who should have lost 2 Maryland on a wide open 2 point conversation?

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

No way do I take a 2 loss non-conference champ over a 1 loss power 5 conference champ. I would have took ND for being undefeated and having a decent schedule at least. Close call but I would have took Oklahoma over OSU for the 4th spot.

Neutered Lame barely beat 6-6 Vandy by 5 pts at home.
Choke-la-homo beat Army by 7 pts in OT, while 7-5 Dukie beat Army by 20.

The fevered brain and the choker with his head-nailed-to-da-flor agree.
Well, I guess that settles it for sure....

Lets not go to comparatives. Sometimes teams catch a couple breaks and a game is closer than expected.

Remember that ND had to fight like hell to beat Vandy.

You played three teams with winning records this year. Three.

Oh, and you scheduled Army when they were losing 10 games a year.

Come back when you play a grownup schedule.

Merry Christmas and happy New Years gizzard grad

Winning records

Texas ( played twice )
WVU
Army
Iowa state
Okie State
TCwho

We’ve defeated on the road and home ( neutral spots ) last 7 years

Ohio state
Allbarn
rubber Dollies ( twice)
Bamr
Free shoes

Not bad ( albeit we should have defeated the leghumpers) choke I agree

TCU and Okie State won bowl games. I admit to not counting Army.

UF Played 5 ranked teams Plus 2 other SEC-e bowl teams.

#5 UGly 11-2
#11 LSU 9-3 - SECw
#14 UK 9-3
#18 MsSt 8-4 - SECw
#23 Mizz 8-4
-----
7-5 SCa
6-6 VU

==========

OK played around with 2 Ranked teams:
#15 TX 9-4
#16 WVa 8-3
-----
And 4 other Big12 bowl has-beens.
8-4 IoSt
7-6 TCU
6-6 Baylor
6-6 OkSt

UF played 3 teams with 9+ wins, Chokers played 1.

My opinion is until OU decides to field a defense and not a two hand touch defense they aren’t winning a national title. Period.

I think the last national title OU won was like 2001 or something like that correct?

That would be in 2000 when they played:

OK 27 - 24 KSt 11-3 for the Big12-C

OK 13 - 2 FSU 11-2 for the BCS-NC

The swooners played 5 teams with 3 or less wins during their regular season.
