SEC Teams vs ACC Teams in National Title Games

There have been numerous national title games between teams from each conference. It is good to reflect back on the teams and the outcomes.

1958 Sugar Bowl LSU faces Clemson. LSU wins 7-0
1996 Sugar Bowl. #1 FSU facing #2 Florida. Florida wins 52-20
1998 Fiesta Bowl. Tennessee faces FSU. Tennessee wins 23-16
2013 BCS Championship game. FSU faces Auburn. FSU wins 34-31
2015 Playoff Final. Alabama faces Clemson. Alabama wins 45-40

So, FSU has faced a SEC team in a national championship format three times and lost twice.

Clemson has faced a SEC team in a national championship format twice and lost both. I am not certain if Clemson would have won the national title in 1958 had they won the Sugar Bowl, but by losing they propelled a undefeated LSU team to the title.

Florida has face a ACC team once and won once.

Alabama has faced a ACC team once and won that one.

Three things I'll never forget about that game. One, Rooster started and was awful. Two, Peter Warrick finished with one catch for 7 yards. Three, Mario Edwards couldn't cover Peerless Price man!!!!!!!

Had Weinke played in that UT game. I dont think its close. That for me is the game that sticks out as one of those games that we lost and what was more disheartening was we lost to a clearly inferior team.

The Gator one we actually beat that same team earlier that year in gainseville. I thought the gates had the better team tho. Great adjustment by spurrier for the bowl game

That game was in Tallahassee, on a dirt field with a 30 mph wind

Yep that regular season FSU game seemed like it was one of those games where if you played it 10 times Florida would win eight times at least.
