Report - Florida assistant Larry Scott leaving to take HBCU head coaching job

Not sure why he would leave for Howard. Maybe Mullen wanted to make a change? Seems weird.
 
~ Position coach at a big school.
~ Head Coach in charge of everything at a small school.
Not sure about the pay scale difference???

But after being a HC, being a position coach is not usually the goal.
IF he does well with Howard, he might be able to move up and get another better HC gig.
However, career paths can differ and there's more than one way to skin that cat....

Wasn’t Walt Bell the OC? Larry Scott is just the TE coach. I’m pretty sure he was in the bottom half of salaries for the UF staff. He may have got a pay raise to be the head coach at Howard. Who knows? I wish him the best of luck.

Yea Bell wanted out as well. It just doesnt seem logicalto me. He could be an OC at the p 5 level but he drops all the way to Howard. Maybe Mullen didnt want him anymore (thats what happened with Bell). I get it, hes the TE coach but hes the TE coach at UF which gives him major opportunity for a step up. Me personally, i think TE coach at UF is more prestigous than HC of Howard. Is he old? Reached his max potential? Or did Mullen want to go in a different direction?

Kinda thought the same. He’s been a coordinator at a power 5 program already and he’s gonna make less as head coach at Howard than he made as a position coach at UF. Maybe he just wants to be a head coach that bad.

What head coach from Howard has ever gotten a bigger d 1 job as HC? I just dont believe this is true. If he took over as OC or went to a G5 HC job that is much better than Howard. Im not sure any p5 school would hire him as OC from Howard.

Meh, we stole our OC from the SEC. Just like our running backs coach and our linebacker coach. I think there was one more as well (DB coach from Auburn) If we ever hire the coach from Howard... Im switching teams

Yeah you got the OC that didn’t call any plays from the school he was previously at for all of 1 year he was there and was at Memphis prior to that. Huge hire! LOL. Who are you trying to fool?

We raided Auburn. Got their DB coach as well

Oh wow. I just saw that. OUCH! Take hurts. A&M of all people hired him away from FSU. That isn’t good at all. I didn’t know that.

They paid 700k..... For a db coach. We got woodson from Auburn who i believe was their recruiting coordinator as well. He also worked with Norvell at Memphis.
