So, one of my co-workers has resigned; today's his last day. He actually has no job lined up, he's single and rents an apartment. He's going to take a few months off and figure out his next move. Part of the "Great Resignation" we've been hearing about.
Anyway, so his boss arranged a farewell lunch yesterday, seven of us total. His boss texted me this morning to tell that he's caught Covid, fevers, body aches, and all that. I had to do the ethical thing and report my close contact to HR, and I was instructed to go back home and work remotely today, Monday, and Tuesday. If I have no symptoms I can return next Wednesday, but have to be masked up Wed-Fri. I haven't talked to anyone else but I assume they are in the same situation.
Crazy stuff but I have bills to pay and retirement to save for, so I have to suck it up and follow the protocol.
