A suburban Seattle man was sentenced Friday to two years in federal prison for threatening to shoot Black customers at grocery stores in Buffalo, New York, and at businesses in other states.

Joey George of Lynnwood pleaded guilty in November to making interstate threats and the hate crime of interference with a federally protected activity, The Daily Herald reported.

As part of a plea agreement George admitted he made phone calls threatening to shoot Black customers at grocery stores in Buffalo, restaurants in California and Connecticut, and a marijuana dispensary in Maryland.

According to the plea agreement, George started making calls in July — telling staff at one store to “take him seriously” as he was “preparing to shoot all Black customers." One store closed.

Ex-police officer Aaron Dean, convicted of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Atatiana Jefferson, was found to be unfit to be a police officer before he was hired, according to the Dallas Morning News. Witnesses in the trial pretty much obliterated the argument that Jefferson posed a threat. However, one witness suggested Dean he posed more of a threat before even receiving his badge.

In addition to not being fit to be a cop, Tarrant County jurors found Dean unfit for society, convicting him of manslaughter after 13 hours of deliberation. He faces 20 years in prison, USA TODAY.

Before we celebrate justice being served, let’s circle back to his diagnosis…because this isn’t the first time a crooked cops exhibited red flags before joining the line of duty. For the past few years we’ve been finding out far too late that the “bad apples” weren’t deserving of their jobs. Consider the “emotionally inept” cop who killed Tamir Rice in 2014, Timothy Loehmann.

The cop who shot and killed 17-year-old Antwon Rose II in 2018 in East Pittsburgh, Pa., Officer Michael Rosfeld, left his previous job as a cop on the University of Pittsburgh police force after being accused of making misleading statements in official reports. He later sued, arguing he was wrongfully terminated, but a judge dismissed his claim.

Six months later, he killed Rose just a few hours into what was literally his first patrol in East Pittsburgh. Although Rosfeld was found to have violated multiple policies and failed to disclose his troubling history with prior police departments, he was acquitted in Rose’s death.

A former police officer is headed to prison after kicking a man in the face while under the impression that a fellow officer’s body-worn camera was turned off in northern Louisiana, federal prosecutors say.

A 61-year-old Michigan man has pleaded guilty to two federal hate crimes in the intimidation of Black Lives Matter supporters, according to Fox 2 Detroit. Those supporters were Starbucks employees who were granted permission to wear BLM t-shirts. It seems someone took their activism very personally.

Many businesses suffered severe backlash after outwardly showing support for the movement against police brutality following the murder of George Floyd. The very words “Black lives matter” unleashed a sort of unhinged white rage which evidently awakened inside Mr. Kenneth Pilon of Saginaw, Michigan. According to Fox’s report, Pilon was accused of calling up nine Starbucks stores, and harassing employees with racial threats after seeing an announcement allowing them to don BLM t-shirts behind the counter.

The 9-year-old Black girl whose New Jersey neighbor called the cops on her while she was out killing invasive lanternflies has managed to find a silver lining to the traumatic experience: being recognized by several groups for environmental efforts that have inspired others in science.

The Association of New Jersey’s Environmental Commission honored Bobbi Wilson during the city of Caldwell’s council meeting this week, giving her the Sustainability Award for her work to save trees and eradicate lanternflies.

The 9-year-old’s helpful hobby eventually gained national attention when The Progress reported that a white neighbor had called the police on her while she was trapping lanternflies in their neighborhood on Oct. 22.

In a recording of the phone call, previously obtained by The Daily Beast through the neighbor’s attorney, a man tells the police “a little Black woman” was spraying stuff on the sidewalks.

“I don’t know what the hell she’s doing; it scares me though,” he says.

“She’s a real small woman, real tiny,” he continues. “She’s got a hood on. You can’t miss her.”

During a Caldwell City Council meeting on Nov. 1, Bobbi’s mother, Monique Joseph, called the ordeal “sickening and scary.”

The bust of Taney is expected to be replaced with a bust of former Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, the high court's first Black justice.


Both the House and the Senate passed the bill by a voice vote, signalling no opposition from any lawmaker. It now heads to President Joe Biden's desk for his signature.

Taney wrote the majority opinion in the Supreme Court's infamous Dred Scott v. Sandford decision of 1856, which held that Black Americans could not be US citizens.

Slavery, the black codes and Jim Crow are an absolute blight on the history of our nation. I've said as much MANY times on this board.

Having said that, our nation is the most perfect society to have existed to date. No other country is as diverse and no other nation has the diversity of successful citizens within its borders. If you're a black person and you're a millionaire, you're almost certainly an American. I don't know that to be true of Latinos but I suspect that it might be.

Walker, a writer for Netflix’s Karma’s World, was in Los Angeles for the Children’s & Family Emmys award ceremony over the weekend. He filed a formal complaint against Delta on Tuesday, claiming the gate agent said he was too late to catch his flight but, instead, let a group of white passengers board after him.

“A nearby customer exclaimed that [the agent’s] behavior seemed racist,” Walker wrote in the complaint. “[The agent] responded, ‘It is.’”

The 9-year-old Black girl whose New Jersey neighbor called the cops on her while she was out killing invasive lanternflies has managed to find a silver lining to the traumatic experience: being recognized by several groups for environmental efforts that have inspired others in science.

The Association of New Jersey’s Environmental Commission honored Bobbi Wilson during the city of Caldwell’s council meeting this week, giving her the Sustainability Award for her work to save trees and eradicate lanternflies.

The 9-year-old’s helpful hobby eventually gained national attention when The Progress reported that a white neighbor had called the police on her while she was trapping lanternflies in their neighborhood on Oct. 22.

In a recording of the phone call, previously obtained by The Daily Beast through the neighbor’s attorney, a man tells the police “a little Black woman” was spraying stuff on the sidewalks.

“I don’t know what the hell she’s doing; it scares me though,” he says.

“She’s a real small woman, real tiny,” he continues. “She’s got a hood on. You can’t miss her.”

During a Caldwell City Council meeting on Nov. 1, Bobbi’s mother, Monique Joseph, called the ordeal “sickening and scary.”

At least black people's tax dollars won't go to maintaining statues of those who wanted to continue the oppression of non-white people

Washington man gets 2 years for threatening Black shoppers

A suburban Seattle man was sentenced Friday to two years in federal prison for threatening to shoot Black customers at grocery stores in Buffalo, New York, and at businesses in other states.

Joey George of Lynnwood pleaded guilty in November to making interstate threats and the hate crime of interference with a federally protected activity, The Daily Herald reported.

As part of a plea agreement George admitted he made phone calls threatening to shoot Black customers at grocery stores in Buffalo, restaurants in California and Connecticut, and a marijuana dispensary in Maryland.

According to the plea agreement, George started making calls in July — telling staff at one store to “take him seriously” as he was “preparing to shoot all Black customers." One store closed.






And of course we have the law enforcement officer who should never have been a LEO in the first place...just a little too in fear for his life...a little too trigger happy in a black neighborhood

Ex-police officer Aaron Dean, convicted of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Atatiana Jefferson, was found to be unfit to be a police officer before he was hired, according to the Dallas Morning News. Witnesses in the trial pretty much obliterated the argument that Jefferson posed a threat. However, one witness suggested Dean he posed more of a threat before even receiving his badge.

In addition to not being fit to be a cop, Tarrant County jurors found Dean unfit for society, convicting him of manslaughter after 13 hours of deliberation. He faces 20 years in prison, USA TODAY.

Before we celebrate justice being served, let’s circle back to his diagnosis…because this isn’t the first time a crooked cops exhibited red flags before joining the line of duty. For the past few years we’ve been finding out far too late that the “bad apples” weren’t deserving of their jobs. Consider the “emotionally inept” cop who killed Tamir Rice in 2014, Timothy Loehmann.

The cop who shot and killed 17-year-old Antwon Rose II in 2018 in East Pittsburgh, Pa., Officer Michael Rosfeld, left his previous job as a cop on the University of Pittsburgh police force after being accused of making misleading statements in official reports. He later sued, arguing he was wrongfully terminated, but a judge dismissed his claim.

Six months later, he killed Rose just a few hours into what was literally his first patrol in East Pittsburgh. Although Rosfeld was found to have violated multiple policies and failed to disclose his troubling history with prior police departments, he was acquitted in Rose’s death.
