Peace out, y'all

The Common Core, in theory, is just focusing on exemplary instructors (federal funds dependent), however, by the time each state decides what that means it can be disastrous and the loser is the public school students. Especially the grammar school-aged children that never receive the basics needed to complete middle-high school. Add in No Child Left Behind and many are pushed through and receive HS diplomas with 2nd-grade reading levels. I am teaching college-aged students that have Lexile Ratings of 800-1200 on average.
Here in MD, Common Core was lowering all students to the level of the lowest student instead of trying to raise the level of everyone to the highest. MY kids were bored most of the time in elementary school.

I see that a lot with different states. They really focus on facilitators as opposed to actual teachers. I had some advanced students and I incorporated them to help slower learners by using groups of various learning students. Some were approaching and some were exceeding grade levels.

Yes, they do, but that is not the norm, it's the exception. We have the lowest IQs ever recorded just look at these numbers posted in the last 10 years. Abysmal. I'm reteaching math in College courses I teach, Sir.
Sad. I think I went through right before the education standards really went south. I dated a girl a few years younger than me, she was taking calculus in college and it was all on a calculator.

"How do you do a derivative on here?"

"Hell if I know girl, let me show you how it's really done."

"Oh we can't do it that way, we have to use a calculator."

*facepalm*

"I created the Parking Lot so people could have a place to voice an opinion about topics OTHER than UF related topics. It was not intended for you to say whatever pops into your head, calling people names etc...I have zero issues banning, deleting, or simply removing the Parking Lot from this site. I am not going to waste my time editing your post. If I read something that crosses the line you will be removed from the board and can take it to another site."

Point of order, you didn't create the Parking lot, you renamed The Lounge. This site, regardless of owner, has always had an off-topic area, and when this site changes hands again, it will continue to do so.

Don't worry about replying. I don't respond well to threats or people who don't respect free expression, and I don't negotiate with terrorists. So I'll be doing as you suggest and taking it to another site.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Just stop bro.

Wolf, the 1st amendment protects us from the government, this is a privately owned site, and you dagum well know it.

Let's see if I remember this right:

Rule 1 - Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
Rule 3 - When in another's lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
Rule 8 - Do not complain about anything which you need not subject yourself to.

So, in conclusion

1) Stop throwing tantrums
2) Give your balls a tug
3) Act like a Marine

Hugs and Kisses,
GSSPM

In his defense, he enacted Rule 3 and 8.

This is the best thread I've read in the few days since I dropped in. Whether it's the "Lounge" or "Gatorbait" or "Parking Lot". Some fairly wide ranging really good and humourous stuff. I get the intent. Then I turn to the content threads and I think this forum would be more aptly named:
The Parking Space (reserved for MAGA Pubs only).

The most important thing is that they're willing to work to support themselves and their families. Providing them every opportunity to become educated is worthless if they don't take advantage.
Thanks dad.

It seems obvious, to me, that some formal training/education is essential. I'm one of only 2 members in an extremely large extended family to have a masters degree (not bragging, just fact). The other member is a 30 year old niece. For a fair amount of my other relatives, including brother and sister, they basically live pay check to pay check. In more dire circumstances many are on public assistance (some playing the system, some in true need). One consistent factor across multi generations the degree or lack thereof of some form of training/education.

Thanks dad.

Right^^^pushing them through school without being able to read/write isn't the answer. Instead of helping this demographic, they are enabling them to be welfare-dependent when we need thrifty working-class Americans to stimulate the economy.
