Jacob Young just got taken in the 7th round, pick #203, by the Nationals. Slot value $225,800.

Jack Leftwich got selected in the 7th round, pick #216, by the Indians - slot value $203,400.

Franco Aleman chosen in the 10th round, pick #306, by the Indians. No other of our high school signees except those chosen very early - Painter, Petty, Allen & Fox, were drafted in the first 10 rounds.

Baseball is crazy with how many of those high school high pick big bonus guys never even make it out of the farm system.

Read where even with those three taken, UF still has more BA500 commits than any other school.
Not sure if that still hold after Monday's draft.

The MLB draft is over, rounds 11-20 just completed. Looking through the list, I don't see any more Gators, current roster players nor high school signees, who were drafted today. That means only 4 of our high school signees got drafted, 3 in the 1st round, 1 in the 3rd round. That's awesome news, as we'll be getting a lot of kids who were projected to be drafted pretty high. I read yesterday that after removing Painter, Petty, Allen and Fox from the list of commits, we still had 12 signees ranked in the Top 500, with these 7 being the highest:
OF - Michael Robertson #91
P - Philip Abner #114
P - Pierce Coppola #118
P - Jac Cagliolone #132
P - Karl Hartman #161
C - Rene Lastres #186
P - Brandon Neely #206

Well, I have to make a correction to my prior post. 4 more Gator signees were drafted today. They were not among the 7-8 highly-rated guys and I wasn't looking for their names when I scanned the list. There is no signing bonus money involved and who knows whether or not they will sign. But here are their names:
RHP Shawn Guilliams* - 330th (11th) - Cincinnati Reds
RHP Antonio Knowles* - 402nd (13th) - Los Angeles Dodgers
RHP Kyle Larsen* - 524th (18th) - Texas Rangers
OF Ty Evans* - 607th (20th) - Atlanta Braves

Doubt any of them make it on campus.....that stinks.

Ocala,
Any chance some of the top recruits skip MLB and enroll in school?

Highly doubtful unless they come from extremely wealthy families. First round signing bonuses are 7 figures.

Have no idea, but I highly doubt it. But only 4 of our incoming freshman signees were drafted before the 18th round, 3 in the 1st round and 1 in the 3rd. It was projected that 10 of our incoming freshmen would be drafted in the 1st 8 round and 7 of the 10 didn't get drafted at all. So it appears we're going to end up with more high level recruits on campus than originally thought.
