OT: Question about Columbus, OH

I'm traveling to Columbus to scout Ohio State for a bowl game, and I'm trying to figure out where to stay. I typically prefer staying walking distance from nightlife to avoid the inconvenience of uber surge pricing, if it's worth it. Otherwise I'd just stay near campus. Anyone have any advice (landmarks to stay near)? Haven't been to Columbus since we played Ohio State there in basketball in 2008.
